Zzz... Zzz... I got bored
Amnesia - Rebirth is a beautiful and deeply unique psychological horror experience that deserves more attention than it has received, in my opinion. From a technical perspective, the game looks fantastic and runs great, offering stunning visuals. The places you explore are perhaps the game's greatest strength, every unique location is visually stunning and beautifully rendered, lending a unique flavor to the protaganist's journey. The story is interesting, grounded by the intense emotional arc revolving around the birth. This central conflict is genuinely touching and provides a powerful, human core to the horror. I'm disappointed by some of the reviews regarding this storyline, it’s an profound part of life, and the emotional weight it carries elevates the narrative. However, some gameplay mechanics can certainly become annoying. The design choice to constantly tease the exit, only to spring a massive, time consuming detour on the player, sometimes multiple times in a row, which is very frustrating. While this tactic effectively keeps the stress and tension relentlessly high, by the fifteenth instance, it feels less like clever environmental puzzle design and more like a tiresome, repetitive pattern, to burn time. Furthermore, the interactions with the monsters themselves could be scarier and more tense. Encounters often rely on simple hide-and-wait mechanics, which dulls the horror aspect compared to direct, terrifying pursuit. Despite these minor flaws, Amnesia Rebirth to me is a memorable, unique gaming experience and a big step forward from its predecessor, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

The story was iffy, leaving me with a more mixed review. Graphics and music were good, and I do like the picking up and moving random objects, I'm glad it still has that. Now the story. It was a bit disappointing not going to lie. At first it has so much going on that it's almost overwhelming with so many threads, but by the end I don't even know which ending is the best one as I'm left thinking that honestly overall it was unsatisfying. I think this is probably from the overwhelming amount of threads from before, since the first two games I believe (as far as I can remember) are fairly straightforward, figure out what happened, retrace steps, find out about big bad, but this one on top of that, at least for me, had also
figure out who dies where, remember who's left in the group, keep in mind that I may or may not be a monster, remember there's aliens or whatever, get through whichever faction of monster I'm facing at whichever moment since I think it changes, so on.
It's just too much, but after everything's answered (I think it did that at least) it was just eh, maybe because of the endings, none of which seem particularly good in the slightest. The scares were good, it got me a few times and the atmosphere was pretty good and tense. I liked the puzzles, of the few it had since after playing it I can't help but think that it didn't have that many puzzles and that it was mostly walking. The collectible extras for notes and memories spread all around is nice, and as usual the fact that it allows custom stories is phenomenal. For the bad, besides anything stated above, the fact that if you crash (which happened to me twice) it forces you to restart the whole level from the start is not a good feeling in the slightest. Other than that I can't really remember anything else. Overall, I do still like it, despite the disappointing story, there's still enough there that I don't outright dislike it, I'm more neutral with it. There's also a nice ambience which might get you a few times. And as always the custom stories adds a whole lot more for you to play anything you find out there that may spark your fancy. Give it a go.
Game gives the spooks as it goes and is an enjoyable horror experience. The atmosphere carries the game (I loved the early-game fort), with the narrative having to play catch-up to give a sense of "why" to what you're doing. The game does too much "telling" and not enough "showing," relying on the player to walk through loading zones to trigger flashback images, rather than letting the play discover the story via diegetic means. I do applaud the choice to do something different: the main character is a pregnant woman (and it's not just thrown into the game as a personality trait) and the setting is in a hot/bright region (unusual for horror games). Like I said, the scares are really there if you let yourself enjoy it. Just don't think about the rest of the game too much and enjoy the ride. 7 out of 10.
Отличная амнезия как по мне, продуманные монстры и головоломки (как и в других играх серии амнезия). Очень напряженный и страшный эпизод был в крепости и в канализации. Надеюсь frictional games еще будут выпускать игры этой серии.
8/10
I liked it more than Dark Descent. Although Frictional Games are not known for playing it safe with their designs and stories, Rebirth is perhaps the boldest one so far, demanding the player to immerse into the setting that - at first glance - isn't everyone's cup of tea. French Sudan, wandering in the desert, listening to a VERY talkative protagonist, and managing the theme of birth - both in story and gameplay - all of this takes some time to get into, making for (subjectively) less exciting beginning hour(s) compared to Frictional's prior projects. However, there IS a reason for all of the above, and discovering it has become a thrilling journey as I progressed through the game. What will likely make or break your experience is your interest - or lack thereof - in the 'other world'. Not a spoiler, since it's teased in the very first minute of the intro. Seeing, exploring, and gradually understanding that place, its relation to the game's 'main' setting and characters, and - most importantly - the events in Dark Descent, is what made this one of Frictional's best stories. I dare not compare it directly to SOMA, but the mystery of Rebirth is kind of creeping up on you, whereas SOMA hits you with shocking twists and existential philosophy. It's a different kind of thrill. Gameplay-wise it all SEEMS like standard Amnesia fare: manage light, stay sane, avoid monsters. But each of these components is ever so slightly more advanced than in Dark Descent to give it some depth. Let's just say it's still conceptually simple, but no longer as basic as hiding in closets. Managing light is interesting because your lantern is a last-resort, short-lived tool against darkness now. It's all about precious matches used to light various permanent light sources in the environment, and there's the constant decision making of where to apply the little matches you have. It's tense enough so that every found match gives you a dopamine jolt, and finding 3 feels like Christmas has come early. Still, you likely WILL run out, succumb to stress, or get caught by a monster. Which brings me to how beautifully Rebirth manages 'fail states'. In short - you can't really lose, but the game is set up in such a way that it won't make you careless. There ARE stakes, but they're established in such a way that you won't feel discouraged or frustrated if you fail at statying safe and sane. With that said, there's the Adventure Mode that gets rid of all this to allow you to simply experience the story. And what a story it is!
