Fun and sweet.
could use some polish (especially with the resolution), but the gameplay is mostly solid some parts force you to guess what's on the other side of the screen though, which is sadly a minus
Story — 6/10 Light simple, and just enough to give the game structure. It’s not Shakespeare but then again shakespeare never made a platformer Difficulty Balance — 7/10 Clever puzzles and jumps that make you think without sending you sprinting to YT for help Replayability — 5.5/10 Worth revisiting for collectibles or to perfect your runs, but not the sort of game you’ll play every month Overall — 6/10 A charming well made platformer that’s fun, friendly, and never overstays its welcome. If you’re looking for something enjoyable without rage-inducing frustration, Amelite is absolutely worth your time.

Amelite is a really nice little platformer, and the main thing that makes it stand out for me is that I am not just jumping between platforms that the game has already placed. I can actually draw my own platforms and use them to get through the levels. I start at the bottom of an abandoned mystical tower covered in dangerous crystals, and I have to climb my way up while figuring out my own solutions to the obstacles in front of me. That idea immediately makes the platforming feel more creative. The drawing mechanic is easily my favourite part. I can draw platforms to cross gaps, block projectiles or create walls that I can use for wall jumps. I like that the game does not always give me one obvious solution. Sometimes I can draw a platform in a simple way and move on, while other sections make me think more carefully about where I want to place it. Using the mouse feels natural here, and the game even supports drawing tablets, which makes sense considering how important the drawing mechanic is. The level design is also pretty good. The further I climb, the more dangerous the tower becomes, and the game keeps giving me different situations where I have to think about how I use my platforms. I enjoyed the feeling of coming across an obstacle, trying something that does not work, then changing my approach and finding a way through it. There is also a strange little creature helping me along the way, which gives the adventure a bit more charm without getting in the way of the platforming. Visually, I really like the colourful cartoon style. The crystal covered tower has a nice fantasy atmosphere, and the environments are detailed enough to make the climb feel like an actual journey rather than a collection of random platforming rooms. The music and sound effects also fit the overall mood quite well. It is clear that presentation was given a lot of attention, and I think that helps make the short experience feel more complete. The main weakness for me is the length. Amelite is a fairly short game, and once I have seen most of what the drawing mechanic can do, there is not a huge amount left to discover. I would have liked more levels and more situations that really pushed the platform drawing system. There are also moments where drawing can feel a little awkward if I am trying to make something precise while moving quickly. It is not enough to ruin the experience, but it can take a little getting used to. Overall, I think Amelite is a very good free platformer with one genuinely clever mechanic. I like being able to create my own path instead of simply following the level designer's intended route, and the tower gives the whole thing a nice sense of progression. It is short and I think the drawing system could have been pushed even further, but I would rather have a focused game with a good idea than something padded out for no reason. I had a lot of fun experimenting with the platforms and figuring out my own ways through the levels. Rating: 7.2/10
I did not enjoy Amelite. Not every platformer has to be Celeste, but why would anyone play a platformer that's so much worse than Celeste? Here's what you get in Amelite:

Terrible writing. Sentences are uncapitalized, the dialogue is irrelevant, and the ending resolves nothing.
Uninspired level design. Plus aesthetically speaking, the game is way too blocky, and the obstacles are too low-res.
Infuriating design: Amelite features one of my least-favorite platformer designs, namely some pits being survivable and leading to secrets, while others kill you. Have fun jumping into all pits, I guess.
Lack of polish and juice.
Dubiously designed achievements. E.g. one achievement asks you to beat all levels without dying, but using the official Level Restart button doesn't reset the death counter; you have to go back to the main menu instead. That's bizarre. Also, this achievement for beating the game with 0 deaths can apparently nto be gained by beating each level with 0 deaths. From which I conclude that the achievement is either bugged - or terribly phrased, and actually asks for beating the entire game in one sitting and 0 deaths.
Not recommended. I suggest playing a critically acclaimed platformer instead. Like Celeste, Super Meat Boy, or e.g. Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends.
