Reviews
When I accept games via the curator, I don't normally write bad reviews, especially if the price is very low, but here they are asking for 10 euros. That's pretty exorbitant, so I'll write a few words about why I think so. Apart from the fact that this game lags like hell and that's not because of the frame rates, it's also badly translated with Google. There are people who like to buy games from small developers and overlook a few bugs, but you shouldn't pay a cent here. You'd be better off buying an old game that's on sale.
Alvara is a fairly straightforward Unreal Engine asset flip, although it should be noted a little effort went into trying to make a game, and "trying" is the operative word there. But it doesn't pass the basic test for what makes a game anything more than an asset flip. Two notable criteria for what makes an asset flip instead of legitimate use of stock assets are whether those assets comprise the majority of the game, and whether the "developer" properly credited the people who created most of the assets in the game. This game fails both of those tests. The "developers" here didn't credit any of the artists and real, actual game developers who created the assets here, so this is plagiarism, as well as cash grab shovelware. In this case, the asset flipper took a bunch of Unreal Marketplace/Fab fantasy/RPG assets and rearranged them haphazardly into a kind of third person RPG... thing... and translated everything with Google Translate. Which should be ashamed of itself, because reading this is rough. It's thoroughly unpleasant to play and it's deep in development hell. The developer hasn't updated this in months and there's no coherent plan in sight for this to be completed... and given the dead silent reception from gamers (see below for player counts), there's no incentive for the developer to bother. Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution, just an "auto detect" option. I suspect that wasn't intentional and it's just bugged and the developer either didn't test it or just doesn't know how to fix it. Game development is not easy if you want to do it right. Anyway, there's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The camera and movement controls are, to put it mildly, a train wreck. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 3 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 110,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. This kind of asset flipping isn't harmless. It makes it harder for gamers to find genuinely made games from ethical developers. It makes it harder for genuine indie developers, who put hard work into trying to make real games, to find an audience for their products. It gives indie developers a bad name. So, should you buy this asset flip? Is this better than any of the 110,000+ genuinely made games on Steam? Of course not! Alvara has the total ripoff price of $10 USD, for which you could easily get any number of older AAA games. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend. For comparison, the $10 asking price for this game could get you games like "Disco Elysium", "Final Fantasy XIV Online" or "Mass Effect Trilogy Pack". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this.
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.

Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The developer brazenly admits they're plagiarising... they took someone else's assets, and did not credit them. Gamers are not supposed to "guess" if a developer didn't actually create the assets in their game. When developers do this, they position themselves as having their name against those assets... it's 100% plagiarism. If they used someone else's work in a Hollywood movie, they'd be sued into the ground and never work in the industry again. They're tacitly telling gamers because this is their game, the assets are also theirs. We also know that this is deliberate. It's easy to include a simple credits page. Why would the developer deliberately choose not to do this, if not to hide the true origin of the game assets from gamers? Claiming the work of others as your own, failing to credit the work of others, is highly unethical, and the developer here now openly admits to it! Obviously this is unethical behaviour and I've explained clearly why. And of course, the ethical, creative and intellectual bankruptcy of taking the work of others and trying to get paid for it is not the only reason that asset flips like this are widely despised by gamers. It's just not okay. So apparently while the developer apparently has no time to replace the plagiarised assets (whether or not the license permits them to be used at all, and I don't trust the developers words here... they've already doubled down on their unethical behaviour), or even finish making their asset flip, they have all the time to breach Valve guidelines to protest about gamers being told the truth about this unethical plagiarist asset flipper. Nothing in the developers pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this abandoned asset flip to anyone.
================================== a gripping storyline. We can't wait to see what happens next, which will quickly make us forget the game's teething problems. a few bugs (but this is early access, so it's not finalised), such as the brightness and sound settings not being saved. puzzles that, with a little thought, can be solved by anyone. A game worth discovering for its low price. (Google translate)
First 20 Minutes Gameplay Here I've been waiting for a game like this for some time now... A game that leaves me still unsure of what to write about! This game has so much wasted potential, at least in my opinion. The story isn’t bad—for a classic RPG—but sadly, there are a few things that are a bit jarring. Please note, these are purely my personal opinions, and some of these aspects may or may not be manageable in the game itself. After playing for a few minutes: - Regarding the movement keys (and I’m not sure if this is the same in France), they start with an AZERTY layout, so you’ll need to change them. - For me, this game feels like it’s trying a bit too hard. Sometimes, simpler is better. I understand the devs wanting to showcase the best of their abilities, but occasionally, it feels overdone. - One of the biggest annoyances is the simpleton who’s supposed to teach you the game. It's not his method that bothers me but rather the animation that plays when he's explaining things. It’s not a natural movement; he seems to be... dancing? It makes it distracting when I’m trying to read important instructions that help with understanding the game. - It throws a lot of information at you within the first 20 minutes, which can be overwhelming, especially for a first playthrough. - Lastly, at the start of the game, don’t forget to save in your house in the village! In the end, it’s a “maybe” game for me. You’ll have to try it yourself to see what you think.
Great Game! Yeah it needs a lot of work, but iam sure this Game will be amazing one time... The developers are always there and available! If you have ideas etc you can contact us via Discord and you will ALWAYS get an answer! Of course, people, the game is still in development, so please have some understanding and rate the game accordingly and don't criticize negatively because of overexpectations... So you're making it really difficult for decent developers to advance their game if there's no chance from the start receives! I would have bought it too, but in the end I got a free key because they were looking for testers! It's not necessarily my thing (round-round combat) but I'm trying my hand at it and thanks to Alvara I'm able to do it. The Ideas great, no long running thanks to the Fast Travel system which ist really Easy and great for the game! The Tutorial show everythink you need to know about the Game, the Story ist interesting. The Skillsystem is good. You can buy Books and skill how you like . Only the Stats... that works automatical... i wished here a manuell positbility
