I have no problem with the core game, the music, the visuals, none of it. All of it is absolutely fantastic and great. The ONLY reason I am not recommending this game, is because it is unbelievably buggy. The amount of bugs I managed to encounter in only 35 minutes is astounding. If this was a new release, I'd give it time for them to fix it, but this game has been out for 9 months. If it's enough time to grow an entire new living being into this world, it's enough time to fix some bugs on a game. Do better.

Alpacalypse is a compact and lighthearted platformer that embraces its identity as a student-developed project, delivering a short but spirited experience built on simple mechanics and a playful premise. Created by a small team from Neumont College of Computer Science, the game doesn’t attempt to compete with larger, more polished platformers. Instead, it focuses on offering a cohesive, easy-to-digest adventure that highlights creativity, humor, and a solid grasp of core design fundamentals. The story sets the tone immediately with its absurd charm. You step into the hooves of Pancake the Llama, a farmer whose peaceful life is disrupted when his wife is abducted by an eccentric group of alpaca antagonists. The narrative doesn’t aim for depth or complexity; it functions more as a framework to carry the action forward. This simplicity works well within the game’s scope, allowing it to maintain a consistent, humorous tone without becoming bogged down in exposition. It feels intentionally exaggerated, leaning into its quirky concept rather than trying to justify it. Gameplay centers on classic platforming principles, combining movement, jumping, and basic combat into a straightforward loop. Pancake’s abilities—primarily kicking and spitting—are easy to understand and integrate naturally into the flow of each level. The controls are responsive, making it easy to navigate obstacles and engage with enemies without frustration. While the mechanics are not particularly deep, they are reliable and well-implemented, which is crucial for a game that relies so heavily on timing and movement. The structure is divided into a series of handcrafted levels, each designed to be short and focused, keeping the pacing brisk and accessible. What helps maintain engagement is the game’s rhythm. Levels are quick to complete, and challenges are introduced at a steady pace, preventing the experience from feeling stagnant. Enemy encounters and platforming sections are balanced in a way that keeps players attentive without overwhelming them. Occasional boss encounters add a bit of variation, breaking up the flow and providing moments that feel slightly more dynamic. The difficulty curve remains moderate throughout, making the game approachable for a wide audience while still offering enough challenge to feel rewarding. Visually, the game adopts a bright and cartoonish style that complements its playful tone. Character designs are expressive, particularly the exaggerated alpaca enemies, which add personality to the world. The environments, while not highly detailed, are functional and cohesive, providing a clear backdrop for the action. Considering the limited development timeframe and resources, the presentation is commendable, even if it lacks the polish and refinement of more established titles. Some animations and visual elements can feel a bit rough, but they rarely detract from the overall experience. The most noticeable limitation is the game’s brevity. With a runtime that can often be completed in a single sitting, Alpacalypse doesn’t offer much in terms of extended content or replay value. Once the levels are cleared, there are few reasons to return beyond casual revisits. Additionally, while the gameplay is solid, it doesn’t evolve significantly as you progress, which can make the latter portions feel somewhat repetitive. The game introduces its ideas early and largely sticks to them, without adding new layers or mechanics to deepen the experience. Even with these constraints, the game succeeds in delivering a focused and enjoyable experience. It demonstrates a clear understanding of what makes platformers engaging—tight controls, consistent pacing, and approachable design—while maintaining a sense of personality throughout. Its strengths lie in its simplicity and execution rather than ambition, and it achieves what it sets out to do without overreaching. In the end, Alpacalypse stands as a charming and well-crafted small-scale project that offers a brief but satisfying adventure. It may not leave a lasting impact in terms of depth or innovation, but it provides a fun, accessible experience that showcases the potential of its creators. For players looking for a quick and quirky platformer, it’s an easy recommendation, even if its appeal is best enjoyed in short bursts. Rating: 7/10
Cute visuals, though the style wasnt my thing it was definitley fun. Felt like a game jam project (wich it kinda is? just longer?) and had a lot of bugs. the fighting style was also hard to learn at first. Seems like it could be improved
2.5D üzerine kurulu güzel basit bir platform oyunu. Oyunlara girince oyun 2D oluyor.

Alpacalypse, Pancake The Llama'yı kontrol ettiğiniz, karınız The Mrs. Kick'i kurtarmak için savaştığınız ve alpaka sürülerine tükürdüğünüz, jeton topladığınız ve zafere giden yolda platform oluşturduğunuz 2.5 boyutlu bir aksiyon platform oyunudur.
About as basic as you can get—perhaps not as conventionally technical as well—but if you come to appreciate the game's style, that's...a positive. By the way, you can see a glitch I have found in my screenshot gallery. I have forgotten since.
Muito divertido!
