Alien Scumbags is a throwback to the glory days of 386-era platformers thoroughly doused with tributes to classic FPS and horror games. There is a variety of levels, weapons and enemies as well as numerous unlockable characters to play, each with a gameplay altering trait. Also of note, the game features a few inexplicably well-done audio drama sequences. When I bought the game there were some janky aspects, but the dev has been responsive and worked actively to fixed it.
Very funny game! A nice little pick up and play that made me think of the retro days of gaming! Some great moments in this! Kinda like a Halo / Doom 2D Shooter.
Fun game! Really enjoyed splattering enemies. The dev obviously put a lot of thought into the level's, and overall a fun game. I do wish i was able to shoot in more then 3 directions with flying enemies.
Very cool retro 8-bit platformer, definitely makes you a little sentimental thinking back to the 2d pixel games, but adds some modern elements and a few surprises and laughs. I know a lot of folks have mentioned games like Doom and Duke Nukem, but I can't help but also be reminded of Commander Keen especially the vehicles lol. And I have to say the "Monster Finger Games" song made me laugh!
Fun little game! Deffinitely worth to check it out
this game feel like a chocolate bar it maybe short but is increible sweet and you can enjoy it a lot and you can always go for one playtough time to time since this game have a a nice replay value also a survival mode so there is a lot way to have fun this game o also cool characters besides our lil marine the dev is a cool dude who like to listen to feedback and is on touch with the community i happy to pay full price for this lil gem since the guy who make it deserve it also i gonna be based and say...i enjoy this more than doom 2016 pls dont kill me :)
When I first touched this game I had the feeling that Doom's universe invaded Mario's. But then, my feelings got mixed and felt like Mario just turned himself into the Doomguy. Then Duke Nukem came into my mind along with many other references that I don't want to spoil. Q: How many pop culture references do you want? MFG: Yes On the surface, Alien Scumbags seems like a run-of-the-mill action platformer/shooter but it goes deeper than that. The pacing is great, it's not too excessive with the action (it gives you time to breathe) and the answer is not always "just shoot". There are segments where you can hide and just let things pass. There's both light-hearted and some low-brow humor but that's all part of the package and gives the game another layer of interest. If you're playing on stream or uploading to YouTube like me, there is also a gore/nudity filter (you never know what YouTube is thinking in terms of censorship nowadays) to keep you covered. I'm currently doing a let's play series, and will update my review once my video-review comes out. For now, however, the game is a great play and you'll have a good laugh while playing it.
