This is a demo-like student artwork, of a three-dimensional, story driven sci-fi fantasy. A free-to-roam, what-if art project made by Ahlman Institute Game Technology and Visual Game Design students, that is set in a time when humanity is scarce.

Alice in CyberCity

Recenzja stworzona przez Maxi
Nie, nie, nie i jeszcze raz nie. Gra z pewnością można zaliczyć do trolla, ponieważ cała rozgrywka twa maksymalnie 7 minut.

This is definitely a "demo-like student artwork" type of ordeal in the sense that the entire game seems pretty experimental. My guess is that this just a demo for a potentially bigger game due to it ending so abruptly with a "To be continued?" captioned at the end of the game. And that the people behind it were most likely experimenting with the programming and coding and generally just playing around with the assets they had at hand and what we got was this. You're thrown into the shoes of "Alice", an outed citizen in a city where cybernetic enhancements to the body are seen as popular while pure unaltered bodies are not. Alice as you can guess decided to keep her body free of mechanical alterations and is victim to what the citizens call the "unmodded" due to their natural bodies being inferior to altered humans with more practical but mechanical body parts and functions. Angry that she's seen as useless and obsolete, she takes it upon herself to start her own little rebellion act on her own terms by destroying any machines associated with law in hopes to send a message to everyone. Which after is ended with an out-of-the-blue cliffhanger where some sort of revolution seems to have formed despite Alice only being on her rampant rage for merely 5 minutes. That's about it for the story and it is underwhelming to say the least. The game itself is basic, simply put, but the entire thing feels unstable and inconsistent. With controls and sounds not behaving the way they should, it just comes down to a hodgepodge of messy game designing. To start off, the beginning of the game is barely playable because Alice's head is stiffer than a stick in a snowstorm. Even trying to look around is a problem because the sensitivity to look around is set so low by default that trying to perform a full 360 degree turn takes over 10 full swipes of the mouse (even with mouse sensitivity set to max). Only after leaving the area will the sensitivity fix itself and you'll be able to freely look around without having to slide your mouse all over the table. I'm also not the only person experiencing this issue for as some reviews also mention the strange sensitivity problem. The video preview on the store page however doesn't have this problem which begs a question even more. Aside from that strange oddity though I haven't found any other issues besides sounds looping even though such trigger factors aren't present to even activate the sound cues to begin with. Music volume is also an apparent problem as many other players have mentioned said volume being far too loud so make sure to turn down the music before playing. Graphical quality is poor and looks like a direct asset flip even if it isn't, that's how poor the game looks. sprites and models are very simple and appear to come from a game that would've been released 15 years ago. With some visuals with slightly higher resolutions and some completely pixelated, this game truly is inconsistent in all fields. Lighting however isn't horrible and only once have I encountered a flickering wall where two overriding wall textures fought for their time in the spotlight. Dialogue cutscenes have their own unique hand-drawn style although I myself don't find it particularly appealing to the eye. I do however give them credit for being creative with their dialogue sections as I've never seen anything like it elsewhere. Overall the graphical quality is underwhelming albeit the lighting is fine which may sway certain players one way or the other.
Conclusion/TL;DR
The game tries to tell a story about a corrupt cyborg filled cyber city within about 10 minutes of gameplay (you can guess how that goes) and accompanies it with poor, buggy graphics and glitchy, ear-piercing audio. The story is easy to understand but the game is so short that it doesn't even matter. For a price of "free", you wouldn't expect much, but you sure as hell should expect more than 10 minutes of lousy gameplay.
I would encourage the students of Team League, to continue to polish their skills. This is a far better start then some indie titles I've played personally, most were flash based, but didn't have the level of detail for hooking the audience. + I like the variety of music, the volume was about right. + The grit, and urban genre; 'The Naked City" (1948), pushed forward a century. + Models are unique to the characters they represent, and the dialog given + You're teaching the RIGHT value of offering a complete game for the price, and avoiding the seedy underbelly of many mainstream monopoly men; the D.L.C. - or - Debit, Loan, or Credit is accepted. I would look at leaving this game as it is, and using it as a learning tool to build on. Not just for tomorrow's projects, but for those that play this, and see the intrigue of making something of their own. - 2 of your robotic droid waiters collide, and make it difficult to pass the narrow hallway , so the protagonist can progress.
Better than cyber punk 2077!
