good ♥♥♥♥, no achievements and has a few bugs but it still pretty cute.
i wanted to like it since it was an apology gift for a failed kickstarter, but when i played it it definitely felt very lacking considering the price... if you are looking for a game like stardew valley to fill the void i'd recommend any of these games rather than Alchemy Story: -Sun Haven -Farm Together or just actually buy stardew valley and play that instead, its actually cheaper! And Sun Haven is a VERY fleshed out well made game that surrounds the idea of living in a magical fantasy world full of farming and dragons and you can get that for only 5$ extra than this game. Or just wait for a steam sale and get it cheaper. Anyways, overall Alchemy Story is alright. Just not for the price to me.
Alchemy Story Very easy to pick up charming game where you help Arabella restore villagers back to human form! Collect ingredients to brew potions, explore the forest and mine, make money for shopping and to buy animals along the way! There are 20 potion recipes to discover. Fishing is super quick, and you can even find a couple of hidden hair dyes in the mines. It's a game that gets better the more you play it although I suggest buying it at a lower price. TIPS: > Zoom Out with the mouse wheel!!! 🔍helped me a lot > Toggle run?! TYSM > You lose 10% of your money if you don't make it to bed by 24:00 > If you can’t find a memento, click on literally everything inside and outside the villager house.. every item is suspicious!! 👀 > The Forest "Milestones" make more sense once you complete the repairs to unlock the fast travel ability for the forest and mine 🌲 > I suggest not selling Fur or Wool until you finish the dang delivery quest that requires 8 of each i_i > Axe, Hammer, and Broom have 3 upgrades available > Arabella walks slow, but a Dash Elixer will help her walk faster! Eventually you'll buy a broom that really allows you to move quickly! I broom everywhere, even for short distances 🧹(≧◡≦)
The controls and movement are kinda jank and the map is useless. I got frustrated after playing for 40min because it's just not fun enough to make me look past the bad parts. I'll try again eventually, but for now I can't recommend buying this, at least not at full price. It's not what you're looking for if you've got a mad craving for more Stardew/My Time at Portia. Instead, think about trying Potion Permit or the Story of Seasons games, or Atelier Sophie (which has no romance, but is cute af and pretty heckin casual).
This game is adorable, easy to play and lots of fun. I enjoyed the 20hrs played to complete this game. This game would be great for all ages but young children will definitely be able to play it. I recommend it for the price it is for sure worth it.
Cute animals, charming villagers, and the power of friendship -- pretty much the essence of the farm sim boiled down into its core appeal. And while it's nothing complex, it works really well. The brightly colored models and environment give the game a cheery quality that's honestly really nice in a genre that has taken a weird turn toward minmaxing and grimdark. This is a game that sits squarely in the cozy side of the genre, and sometimes, man, you just need something about cute bunnies and flowers and people being nice to each other. The gameplay is simplified but clean and clever, and I found that it really did pick out the elements of the genre that are the most key to making the games fun. I encountered no bugs and found the game to be very complete, so that's worth taking into account as well. It's not going to win any awards for depth of writing, but sometimes you just need a game to play on the couch with the TV on after a long workday, and this is A++ on that front. And I don't think it's trying to be anything else. Also I really want that watermelon patterened fabric IRL??
Feels like somewhat of a mix between Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing, with very minimalistic and simple art style & gameplay, and I mean that in a good way. The game is super charming, the villagers are quirky, and the cozy vibes are off the charts. Game progression is pretty slow-paced, but you quickly build up a routine; get up, manage your crops, feed your animals, walk around the village, brew some potions, go to bed (and sometimes wander off in the forest). If you're into games that center around that type of routine, you'll love it; if you're not a fan of these types of things, you might find it repetitive. I'll probably end up sinking hundreds of hours of this game, but I'll have to come back to it every now & then, because I have a lot of games on my "to play" list. My only very minimal complaint is that the daytime passes ever-so-slightly too fast for me; I'm rather slow at doing tasks, so most people probably have plenty of time to do everything though. Highly recommend for fans of cozy games!
The description reads word for word: Discover a world of magic, cute creatures, and adventure in Alchemy Story, a casual farming simulation game! Grow your garden, brew potions, care for your pets, and meet new friends. It has no age rating which means anybody can play this game. I don’t think kids should even be learning about Transmutation Circles. They aren’t ready for that and that puts a lot of ideas in their heads about things they can’t even understand about. Which leads them down the path of dabbling with things they don’t understand. I would have given this game a 3.8 stars if it wasn’t for the Transmutation Circle. I had to stop playing it because if I had seen a Transmutation Circle in the trailer I would have never played this game. Very misleading. It has a lot of things that need to be tweaked and I would have probably found a lot more if I played this game to the end but I just couldn't. This game would have got a 4.3 if they had no Circle! If you would have added a circle to the calendar to mark which day it was, had some type of indicator that shows you are here on the map, also allowed you to use the guide me function which was cute for also getting to the side areas like the forest and ponds, have controller support, have customization in the menu for the time progression boy did it move so fast, and also for the items you collected/scavenged for show you where you can find them or that it can only be collected if grown or from animals/fishing. This game is fun but a little slow, and very grind-heavy, it does progress fast but at the same time slow because you have to wait for the game to catch up to you especially if you are done with all your missions plus ready for a new villager to unlock. Or that they only let you talk to the villagers once for the ones you are trying to turn back to being human. But it was a fun couch cozy game. I just wish they didn't have that Transmutation Circle. P.S. I finally saw where they show it on their store page it's where you must click show me more so it is well hidden especially if you are the type of person who doesn’t like spoilers for games and only looks at trailers to see if this is your type of game or a new one you can add to your like list. I have reviewed and play-tested a lot of games.
It gives you a "relaxing" experiance!!
Just played this game for the first time since buying it and I am in love! Eloise's art style is so perfect and cute! I really enjoyed helping the villagers, foraging, fishing, and oh my gosh the little navigation "tear drop" is so accessible to someone like me who cannot read maps due to my disability. I loved every moment and will be playing more! Thanks for another lovely game <3
