Akizora Memories - Horizon of Fate -

A boarding school with no sporting events, where all the clubs are focused on art and culture…
At this slightly unconventional school, Arata lives a normal, peaceful life as a student.
There's the annoying girl who comes to wake him up every morning and sits next to him at school, his guy friends (whom he's not sure he actually likes), the class president, and his easygoing homeroom teacher.
A peaceful life sounds pleasant, but day after day of nothing happening makes a person restless. Until one day, when a transfer student shows up in the middle of the year…
As the biggest event of the year, the culture festival, approaches, Arata and the others start pinning their hopes on this last chance to create some memories of their youth. But that's when an illness hits the entire school…

If you enjoy my reviews, you can leave a tip on Ko-fi to support my work!
Concise Game Reviews: Akizora Memories - Horizon of Fate - [
(Scroll down for the longer version)

[th]Game Value:[/th] ✅ Recommended for players who enjoy character-driven visual novels set in school life, with heartfelt relationships and a slowly building sci-fi mystery. Arata is a student at a quiet boarding school where sports are absent and students take part only in cultural clubs. Each day feels familiar: being woken by his childhood friend Chihaya, hanging out with his laid-back classmate Shuichi, trading sharp words with the strict class president Akari, and hearing the odd but insightful comments from his homeroom teacher Kasumi. Their class feels like a close-knit group—bound by routine and small daily moments. But that calm rhythm is interrupted when Wakaba, a timid transfer student, arrives during the off-season. Her presence marks a turning point, as a mysterious illness starts spreading through the school. At first, it seems harmless—but little by little, it steals students’ energy, emotions, and even their sense of youth. As the school’s annual culture festival approaches, Arata and his friends begin to realize their last year together may be slipping away faster than they imagined. The story shifts gradually from lighthearted school life to a more emotional and reflective tale about connection, change, and the quiet fear of being forgotten. The protagonist, Arata, quietly goes about his school life—until his class receives a new transfer student: Wakaba, a shy and awkward girl who seems out of place. As Arata reconnects with his classmates through preparations for the culture festival, the group is shaken by an emerging illness that begins spreading silently. The game’s first half plays like a slice-of-life romcom, but the second half adds layers of tension and mystery.

[th]🎮Gameplay:[/th]

🖱️ Kinetic visual novel experience with one choice near the end 📚 Dialogue-heavy progression with well-paced slice-of-life segments 🎧 Japanese voice acting brings each character to life 💌 Ending depends on which girl you emotionally resonate with at the final choice 🌐 Patch adds two simple H-scenes—serving as a final reward rather than core content 📸 Gallery available post-game, though limited due to short runtime

[th]📖Story & Depth:[/th]

The game’s emotional weight lies not in complexity, but sincerity. It captures the fleeting nature of youth and the bittersweet feeling of knowing that some days might be your last “normal” ones. While the illness subplot remains vague, it adds just enough intrigue to push the player forward. The focus is on the bonds between characters: Chihaya, the teasing but reliable childhood friend; Akari, the no-nonsense class president who hides her care beneath a stern surface; Shuichi, Arata’s humorous yet dependable male friend; and Kasumi, the eccentric genius teacher. Wakaba’s arrival is the catalyst for change—but the real heart of the story is Arata and how he chooses to respond to the people around him as life shifts unexpectedly.

[th]🏆Verdict:[/th]

Akizora Memories - Horizon of Fate - is a warm, emotionally resonant short visual novel with polished production values and a small but memorable cast. It’s not for those chasing erotic content—this is a story-first game, with only two optional H-scenes unlocked via patch and hidden behind a single late-game choice. Instead, it shines in its atmosphere: soft lighting, reflective music, voice-acted characters, and a narrative that feels nostalgic, like a memory you forgot you had. It balances school slice-of-life and subtle sci-fi without becoming too heavy or convoluted. While lacking in interactivity and replay value, its heartfelt delivery and strong art direction make it an ideal pick for players seeking a short but meaningful story about the fragile beauty of youth.

[th]✅Good:[/th]

👍 Fully voiced cast enhances emotional impact 👍 Strong visual presentation with well-designed characters 👍 Beautifully written and structured for a short VN 👍 Memorable theme song and competent music throughout 👍 Emotional payoff in final scenes depending on player’s choice

[th]🛠️Could Be Better:[/th]

👎 Minimal H-content and not the focus (2 scenes max) 👎 No animation; CGs are static and censored 👎 Very short with only one choice, limiting replay 👎 No Steam achievements or extras to extend engagement

A VN where a youthful ensemble drama intertwines with a sci-fi story of crossing worldlines
Set in a special all-girls boarding school, this visual novel follows an ordinary protagonist, Arata Yashiro, as he becomes entangled in the mystery of a strange illness called “Youth Deficiency Syndrome” spreading throughout the school, while caught between his childhood friend Chihaya and a mysterious transfer student, Haneha. The first half plays out like a classic rom-com, but in the latter half, the tone shifts into sci-fi, culminating in a passionate development where
he travels to another world to save his friends
. There are three heroines, all portrayed with care and fully voiced. Some scenes especially stood out with impressive voice acting, making a strong emotional impact despite the short runtime. Visually, the character sprites and event CGs are on par with commercial VNs, enhanced with cute SD illustrations that add warmth to the daily scenes. The theme song, “Superstring Theory Schicksal,” is an energetic and memorable track that fits the story’s tone. On the other hand,
this is clearly only the “first part,” and many of the core plot threads and foreshadowed elements are left for the sequel, “Miracle of the Singularity”
. The total playtime is around 2 to 4 hours, and choices are
essentially limited to a single point, with only two branching routes
, making the structure simple. There are H-scenes (with the “full content” applied), but they lean more toward light romantic intimacy. They serve more as a spice to enjoy alongside the story. While the price (~13USD retail) may seem a bit bold at first glance, depending on one’s expectations, the indie qualities not found in commercial titles can affect overall satisfaction. The charm of the characters, the theme of youth × sci-fi, and the quality of presentation and voice acting are all quite high for an indie VN, and it can be said that the story successfully carves out its own niche as a youth VN focusing on bittersweet emotional shifts. Though the structure is
clearly built with a sequel in mind
, the lingering foreshadowing and emotional aftertaste left at the end give it a unique appeal. I felt that this work will resonate especially well with players who prioritize atmosphere and thematic storytelling.
Check out our Steam curator , YouTube channel and X(Twitter)!

Stay for the story. (Not suitable for the horny).
This visual novel has many aspects that I liked, such as its story, intro, and especially its music. It will take you 4–5 hours to finish reading (depends on reading speed). The game only offers a single choice which affects not only the ending but also who you end up dating. That being said, considering the price, I do recommend waiting for a discount. Something very important you should know is that even though the game has a patch for h-scenes it is completely unneeded to enjoy the game. The patch only adds 2 h-scenes and both are mosaic censored stills. In other words, this game isn't for those looking to be horny.

Akizora Memories - Horizon of Fate -

Game Introduction
The game's story revolves around Shinta, an ordinary high school student. Shinta has a close childhood friend, Chihaya, a lively best friend, Shuichi, and classmates he gradually gets to know. His daily life is peaceful and ordinary: being woken up by Chihaya, playing around with his friends, and preparing for the school festival – all typical scenes of youthful school life. However, the story takes a turn with a mysterious illness – "Adolescence Deficiency Syndrome." This illness gradually spreads throughout the school. As the school festival ends and romantic relationships become clearer, the plot suddenly shifts to a science fiction direction: Shinta learns of a way to change his fate – using special technology to travel through time and go back to the past to save Hamomiji. Thus, an adventure across time officially begins, and the game abruptly ends at this point, leaving the sequel unresolved.
Gameplay
From a gameplay perspective, *Akizora Memories - Horizon of Fate -* is a very typical visual novel. Players primarily advance the plot by reading text and clicking on dialogue to continue the story. The game has relatively few interactive options, leaning more towards a linear progression. There are only a few key branches in the game. For example, after the school festival, players can choose to respond to the feelings of their childhood friend Chihaya or the transfer student Hamomiji. This choice will affect the ending: Chihaya's Ending: The story ends relatively directly, emphasizing youth and regret. Hamomiji's Route: The plot takes a sci-fi turn, with Shinta learning about the possibility of time travel and deciding to change his fate. Due to its relatively short length, most players can experience the complete story within 3 to 4 hours. Therefore, structurally, this game is more like a "story introduction," laying the groundwork for a more expansive timeline plot later on.
Roles and Character Relationships
The character setup in this work continues the classic pairings of Japanese school romance games: Shinta: An ordinary yet kind-hearted male protagonist who gradually takes on the responsibility of changing his destiny as the story progresses. Chihaya: The male protagonist's childhood friend who has grown up with him since childhood, possessing a gentle and considerate personality. Tsunagi Hamomi: A mysterious transfer student and a central character in the story; her fate drives the entire narrative. Shuichi: A close friend who livens up the atmosphere, adding a lighthearted touch to the daily school life. Although the number of characters is limited, their interactions feel natural, especially the group scenes depicting the preparations for the school festival, which allow the characters' emotions to gradually build. However, due to space limitations, many characters' backgrounds are only briefly mentioned and not yet fully developed.
Advantages and disadvantages analysis
1.Advantages: ✔️ The campus atmosphere is authentic and natural. ✔️The science fiction setting has potential. 2. Cons: ❌ The content is rather short. ❌ The ending felt somewhat rushed.
summarize
Overall, *Akizora Memories - Horizon of Fate -* is a reasonably good short visual novel. Starting in a teen school setting, it uses the concepts of "youth absence syndrome" and time travel to push the story towards science fiction, creating a unique narrative style. While the game lacks depth and length in its plot, the character relationships and atmosphere are well-developed. For players who enjoy teen-themed and light science fiction stories, this game can serve as a light and enjoyable short experience.
《Akizora Memories - Horizon of Fate -》
