About
TAKE COMMAND OF THE NATION'S AIR DEFENSE
The sky is your battlefield. A hostile contact appears on radar. Is it a civilian airliner off course, or the prelude to a full-scale attack? Your job is to find out.
Air Defender is a high-stakes, real-time strategy simulation that puts you in the command chair of a national Air Defence network. From a top-down strategic view, you are the unseen hand responsible for detecting, identifying, and intercepting airborne threats. This is not a dogfighting game; you are not a pilot. You are the commander with access to the capabilities of multiple roles in the bunker, and the fate of the nation rests on your split-second decisions.
Analyse radar returns, scramble your Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) fighters, and manage your assets to protect your airspace. Every choice matters, and the consequences of failure are devastating.
High-Fidelity Command & Control: Take on the role of an Air Defense Commander. Manage a detailed radar network, interpret IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) data, and issue commands to your forces.
Scramble QRA Interceptors: Launch your fighter aircraft to investigate, shadow, or engage hostile contacts. Manage their fuel, weapons, and mission objectives in real-time.
Deep Information Warfare: Utilise authentic-inspired systems to build a complete picture of the battlespace. Monitor flight plans, analyse electronic warfare (EW) intelligence, and stay one step ahead of the enemy.
Intelligent Enemy AI: Face a dynamic adversary that will probe your defenses, launch coordinated attacks, and adapt to your strategy, creating a challenging and replayable experience.
Play Endless or complete Training Missions to become Combat Ready. In Endless, you will be challenged to spot the bad guys, ensure they don't sneak through, if you do, it could lead to all out war.
Welcome to the command center. The watch is yours.

Fantastic down time game. It's immersive, responsive, and very addicting. Mostly though, it shows massive potential. A few friendly recommendations: - QRA engagements. It would be very handy to see exactly what stage of interception (ident, show of presence, show of force etc) the sorties were undertaking. That way I can make sure the sorties are doing exactly as commanded. - Redeploying assets ahead of starting the game. For example, tankers are all concentrated onto one airfield; which means if I am to have true dexterity in my decisions I have to send a load of tankers across the country at the beginning of every game. Other than that, this is clearly a very well thought out passion project, with a diamond solid foundation. It just needs a bit of love and guidance for user friendliness. I look forward to future updates
It's like Gunner Heat PC but you joined the Air Force instead of the Army. Great immersion and fun
A brilliant, detailed simulation by a genuine expert. It is a work in progress but is top notch.
Promising concept but shouldn't have been released even as early access because fundamental basics are broken. The lack of variation, lack of help, lack of some basic QOL tools and occasional odd behaviour by your aircraft are all absolutely fine because it's early access. What's not OK is that when you scramble jets to intercept, they often don't do anything. Your Tornados will happily intercept a flight of Russian bombers and then escort them on a straight line through UK airspace, flatly refusing to escalate the engagement no matter what you try. It makes the game unplayable. Reading the recent patch notes makes me worry about the codebase. The intercept issue feels like a queuing problem and a recent patch also fixed it so that losing contact with an enemy aircraft didn't result in that aircraft disappearing from the game entirely, which means the game probably wasn't simulating an underlying world that the radar sees, the tracks were somehow wrapped up in the radar and only existed because something saw them. Hope it can be fixed because it has great potential as a slow-burn simulation. At the moment, it can only be recommended if you just want to try a couple of basic tutorials and support the developer, which considering I'm being chased all around social media by adverts for the game is not OK. I'll flip this review if and when that changes. Steam says I have 30 hours in the game. I don't but it doesn't quit properly.
Cool concept with meh execution. Game doesn't scale UI with resolution, making UI unusable at 4k resolutions. Needs a 10x speed setting as there's literal 30min gaps of nothing to do with no information on what's happening. Training missions need more hints (and the hints moved to a more noticeable place!) to explain what's happening. Help section is incomplete and some things are just never explained (what does "buster" mean??).
Gets old wery fast. basickly feels like the mission world war 3 ' the leader is dead' runs again and again. wish the game gets more settings and events. its weeery bare bones but have potential. wish i didnt buy the game. i used more than 2 h to finish the tutorial missions and then i coudnt get a refund. there is some bugs whit aircraft is not responding and the chat is delayed. after a while all the order chat may flood in or not . a good workaround is to activate the 'judy' command so the ai works by itself and that works better in identifying other aircrafts espechaly. wishlist: 1-settings to ajust how easy world war 3 can start\ or on off 2- random events like smuglers , unindentifyed things , and planes whit malfunction that need escort and identifikation 3- make the map larger or add a setting to ajust fule burn on planes. id love to have a use for the refuling ships. 4- instead of using transport planes between bases (never needed to do yet) make it so you can send them to ' etc norway' and get supplies and ship parts? so you can add \ replenish. id love to use those planes for somthing 5 planes taking off from uk is auto marked as friendly \ incoming whit correct flight plan. i understand why its not now but it just becomes a horrible click fest , and auto mark unknown on random planes but not everything. 6- make the planes atack a hostile from the side or from the back (maby by activating a order) i will update this on each patch and change the review as needed. for now i land on wait to buy, but the potentials in this game is huge
Just started playing, but I already love this game. It makes you see the bigger picture and think about your actions. Just don't be like me: 2 attempts at the Combat Ready mode, 2 civilian airliners shot down (oops)...back to basic and trade training I go...
Note: I may change this review from a No to a Yes, depending on future updates. I wrote out a very long list of complaints, but I'll save you the rant. Ultimately it comes down to this: This is not a huge game developer, and I really like the concept of this game, and I like the game play. I am not recommending this game (in its current iteration, in July 2026) because: 1) The game is extremely rough, and does not introduce critical concepts in a good or comprehensible way 2) The actual game play loop feels very short in its current form; there is basically one "bad" guy in the game right now and as best I can tell, the same events play out each time I wish the developers luck and I'm rooting for them to succeed. I also do not regret purchasing this game, but I cannot advise other people to buy it until it's closer to a finalized state. I'm interested to see if they can get this into a completed state. The developers are going to need to commit a lot of time and resources to adding more content, and a much, much stronger, highly polished tutorial/introduction to the game.
Seemed interesting, but the gameplay loop is very short and repetitive so you will become bored extremely quickly. I understand its early access, but its a little too early in my opinion. Will give it 6 months or so and see if the game has expanded.
amazing game as an raf cadet this is very usefull for training its so in detalied and fun :3
