Age of Rivals

Оч хорошая игра. Эдакая вариация на тему настольных 7ми чудес/Цивилизации на картах. Неплохо сбалансирована. Играл и на Андроид (в основном) и на ПК. Быстрые партии, несложные, но неочевидные решения - есть где и про что подумать. В первый раз интересно играть в кампанию/открывать карточки. Разные "герои" со своими "специализациями" (картами, которые "точно попадуться вам" в выборе). Когда всё открыто - просто интересно делать дэйлики, как фон для ненапряжного геймплея. Игру немного портит рандом, но, учитывая быстрые партии, сильно часто не напрягает.

Just not that great a game, mediocre lacks excitement, engagement, interesting gameplay.... Not as fun as Race for the Galaxy, Cultist Simulator, Res Arcana

Fascinating quick play card game with many approaches. Beer and Pretzels personified. Recommended.

Braingood game. Executes its concept of drafting cards/deckbuilding for your empire very well. Tons of combos and things to consider during the 4 rounds you pick cards. Income, ressources, military, victory points and throwing a wrench into your opponents plans. Only one interesting thing was that when i queued up for MP that i got matches in like 5 seconds. Well steamdb says only 2 players were online. Probably mobile players. Oh and the AI is very hard to beat. I couldnt even beat the first guy from the challenges. Kinda annoying.

Some of the cards are unbalanced (really swingy), but I like the idea of choosing 3 cards (choices restricted to the leader) that can be seen for purchase. It feels similar to Dominion otherwise, where you have to weigh points with everything else.

The game is interesting and seems fun at first . Maybe im just not understanding , but i don't get how the timing of cards seems to work also the game is a little to random for my taste . one person can randomly draw previously destroyed cards from prior rounds and not your really good cards while your opponent happens to draw his best .

Wait, I have 222 hours on this already? Guess I have to review it now. So, this is actually a neat little drafting game, since it's simple to play, but still has a lot of strategy involved. For example, your character selection really can make a difference and shape your whole game plan (if you want it to, anyway). This is because each character has a specific pool of cards, out of which they can choose 3 cards in the menu. These 3 will then always pop up during their games, so you can build some nice combos or just bring stuff that will mess with your opponent. Basically, only 6 cards are guaranteed to always show up (the 3 you chose and the 3 your opponent chose), the rest is random. So yeah, there also is quite a bit of luck involved, which can be frustrating but might also help you out, so it evens out I guess. Surprisingly enough, there still seems to be an active community so you will find online games quite fast. Anyway, like I said, fun little game, 8/10

Rivals is a very nice light weight card game that has so many ways to win and lose. This is a bit like I hoped 7 Wonders duel would be more like. It plays like a solid table top game but with board game mechanics that almost would not be possible in a physical copy. To play a physical copy the cards would have to have some kind of dry erase or peal and play feature. The cards are stacked and shuffled in a way to make sure bad luck is less; this means in the first 4 cards you will get a trade card 100%. The only small knock I can think of is like much of online game play there is a ton of poor sportsman ship. There is an emote chat feature that cannot be turned off and when spammed covers up some of the game board. One thing that I was at first a bit brother by is some card are locked behind a in game currency pay wall as well as some of the rivals, but this is more like soft cap tutorial mode. Some of the cards added offer some advanced game play and are unlocked as you really start to understand the game.

It's 7 Wonders on steroids. Me likey.
