About

Build, Gather and Fight in a Desperate Last Stand Against an Onslaught of Never Ending Evil!
The darkness is an entity of evil. Some say it is the manifestation of human fear and nightmares, others say it is a wandering mass of damned souls haunting us. The origin of the darkness itself is unknown, but one thing for certain is that we can keep it at bay through the power of light and fire.
The complete, full release of Age of Darkness: Final Stand is available now and includes Co-operative Multiplayer, Campaign, and Survival modes.

Brace yourself against huge tidal waves of Nightmares. Leveraging an internally developed technology called ‘SwarmTech’ allows the game to render over 70,000 enemy units on the screen at one time. These enemy legions claw their way up through seething fissures in the earth to reinforce ‘The Veil’.

Light up a rich, complex, procedurally generated map to claim territory back from ‘The Veil’. A dynamic living death fog that conceals enemies and drains life from your troops. Holding the line against this terror is not for the faint of heart.

Borrowing from the the roguelite genre, Malices are random afflictions placed on the player during every Death Night, unraveling the best made plans. Conversely, if a Death Night is survived, you may decide between three randomly selected Blessings, enriching the experience and giving your army a much needed edge.

Lead the charge against the horrors of the night with powerful and unique Heroes. Using special abilities gained from leveling up, these Heroes can be key to turning the tide of a desperate battle. But beware, the Nightmares have Elite roaming champions of their own that drop precious resources when killed, posing an extreme and ever-present threat to your expansion.

Co-Op Multiplayer - Team up with a friend in co-op multiplayer to survive the onslaught, defend humanity from the forces beyond the Veil, and reclaim the light together
Epic Campaign - Award winning single-player campaign full of epic battles and dire threats
Survival Mode - Put your endurance and skills to the test in the endlessly replayable Survival Mode
Award-Winning SwarmTech™ Technology – Witness the internally developed ‘SwarmTech’ technology, allowing the game to render over 70,000 enemy AI units on the screen at one time.
Unique Heroes & Factions – Choose Heroes reigning from three distinct Factions - The Order, Rebellion & Volatists - each with their own playstyles, abilities, bonuses and army units that offer a unique gameplay experience.
Dynamic Day & Night Cycle – Fight to reclaim territory by day and survive against the relentless horrors that come with every night.
Living Death Fog – Encounter The Veil, a living death fog that conceals terrors and adds a new layer of danger to your survival, which must be kept at bay through the power of the Light.
Malices, Blessings & Hardships – Embrace roguelite mechanics that make every run unpredictable and unique.
Elite Nightmares – Hunt down wandering powerful enemies for Dark Essence, each requiring different tactics and strategies to defeat.
Horror and Embolden Status Effects - Embolden your army to aid them in battle, but ensure they are protected from the brutal effects of being Horrified.
Terrifying Nightmare Foes – Face off against horrifying monsters like Spitters, Crushers, and Wraiths, each wielding unique abilities.

I'd wait for a sale.. It doesn't seem like there is anymore plans for this game. Shame really. I was hoping for more co-op stuff other than survival. The amount of hours I have is because I got bored fast doing the same thing over and over in co-op.

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.14/day in the week to Jul 30 → 1.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Great game but sadly dev team was fired so now abandonware. Hopefully modders will pick up where they left off. Dont buy unless like 5$ USD
Another counter review to the negative reviews of late. To me, the game, aside from 1 hero feeling extreelyt lacking, feels pretty much finished! the cmapigns nothing special but similar games have the same problem, horde based campaigns are just difficult to make comelling. The factions feel reasonably distinct, multiplayer is extremely enjoyable and one of the few horde based games that actually have it. IF you enjoy They are billions or Diplomacy is not an option this is definately a candidate for you to spend some time with, ignore the negaive reviews and give it a go yourself.
This is a genuinely fun experience - however the game has been abandoned/"completed" by the devs. I understand that financially they have to move on, however for whatever reason the experience has degraded on my hardware. Frameskips, hard crashes, etc. Started with highest settings, eventually just went with lowest settings possible. I'm unsure if they had a regression or something, but it's frustrating. The game itself is genuinely fun. I genuinely wish it was a steady state of resource gathering vs ticks. It leaves a lot of downtime into burst for spend, likewise it's far to easy to snowball victories economically. There really isn't a lot of variance to HOW to win. Overall this game is a solid 7.5/10 experience, brought to 5.5/10 for me due to optimization issues and low gameplay variance across factions and heroes.
I wish there was a "sort of" vote. This game is a defense game in the tradition of They Are Billions, but rather than a steampunk setting they're using a grimdark fantasy setting. I greatly enjoyed They Are Billions in spite of its flaws, and this game is by most metrics a better game. The sound and voice acting are both better than they need to be. The visuals are excellent, and they did a great job of making the UI easy to understand. The non-hero units are mostly just bad. To be clear, I mean both from a gameplay standpoint and from an "interesting to use" standpoint. They feel completely useless next to the hero units, but are absolutely required to use for obvious reasons. Additionally there's an entire branch of the upgrade tree that's pretty much useless until late enough that most players won't interact with it in most runs, and even when it becomes useful it doesn't feel very good to use, showing as generic "+x% to siege engine damage/movement speed/whatever". More interesting would be things like "Archer arrows are poisoned/on fire for DoT" or inflicting status effects from the start, and then providing additional interesting effects from there so that it actually feels like specializing into a type of gameplay rather than just "more health/damage" until the very end. Last up are the enemies. Suicide bomber enemies are just awful. They're not unfair, just unfun. They're mostly easy to avoid, but in a game that requires as much micromanagement as this game does any enemy that can one-shot large quantities of your troops feels bad. The ones that lob blobs of darkness can be frustrating, but have ways of being countered. The generic nightmare zombie things are pretty satisfying when killed en masse, the animations are good all around. The elite enemies are super frustrating while you're learning, but they're pretty good as boss encounters once you get the hang of dealing with them. There are a few interesting ideas here, and it's generally worth checking out, just temper your expectations.
Too many fundamental mechanics for this sort of game simply do not work correctly, leading to nothing but a frustrating experience. AI for your units is atrocious. Pathfinding is so important in this kind of game, but units will constantly get stuck on one another if you try to move them over long distances. Move+Attack command will have your units simply run through enemy units at times and not attack. Enemy units are not suppose to spawn out of thin air, but they do. Fog of war or not, large groups will literally spawn within your base while your main army is busy trying to hold off a wave or trying to find more resources. You can't afford to spread your units out in this game, especially during a death night. This leads to you easily losing chunks of your core base. Speaking of resources, you are at the mercy of RNG when it comes to map generation. Either resources spawn in areas you can reasonably get to and defend, or they don't. Good luck winning if the nearest deposit of iron is near the edge of the map and is a small deposit. Heaven forbid its the only one. There's a tower that suppose to show you the path of an incoming wave. Assuming it even bothers to show you, there's a chance it's just flat out wrong. I've had it show the path coming from one side of me only to come from the other side so many times that its comical at this point. Game looks great, love the aesthetics, but if core mechanics don't function, then there's no point in playing. Hard pass.
Age of Darkness: Final Stand

Рекомендуется всем, кто любит, чтобы победа ощущалась как чудо, а поражение — как поучительная трагедия. the same as the others, this game doesn't deserve the hate its getting, I usually prefer campaign type games, but this game struggles, don't get me wrong, its still fun, but survival is where this game comes into its own. people moan, you cant save your game blah blah blah, they will never know the feeling of completing a hard difficulty on survival and punching the air, it may take you 10 times on easy, but you will get there, keep trying. I love they are billions and tried to find a game like it, this is the only game that starches the itch, I did put it off for ages, but believe me its a great game if you love a big challenge and are prepared for the work it takes to be brave and win. I remember the level on they are billons thinking I had done enough to defend against anything and then some massive blade wielding zombies came from each corner and decimated me, 4 hours gone/wasted etc. oh no, I learned and came back stronger to win if you're tough buy this game, if you have blue hair and think the world is against you, probably not the right game for you, only the strongest survive
