A terrible attempt at Valkyrie Profile. Avoid.
I love lolis.
The game is great, but with the caveat that making it playable is gonna be quite the battle First thing you need to do is find the .exe of the game. Go to manage. locate files, search .exe, and then right clip then go to properties. Make sure your the administrator of your computer and turn on compatibility mode. Set compatibility to Windows XP pack 3. Then you make sure your windows media player is installed or up to date Then you need DirectX 9. Go look for a windows or microsoft site that lets you download it, make a folder specifically for it beforehand, download Direct X 9, and place it in that folder. Once its downloaded, go into the folder and set it up. Once its set up, you can delete the folder. Lastly, restart your computer and your ready to play the game with no issues, as long as you don't suddently unplug your PC. The game itself is great, I play it with videos on all the time while I'm grinding through side quests. Story and world building are also really good. The only downside is parts of the game are very dated in terms of design, and tutorials can be pretty bad
We need a new agarest game. This series is one of the best JRPG love all the games.
Для любителей японских ролевых игры, которым не важен графон, а которые ценят игры за атмосферу, погружение, музыку, гемплей... тд пд... ну Вы поняли... Gameplay is nothing like the other previous two games. It is boring to play and the map is terrible to find your way around.
剧情拖沓无营养,地雷式遇敌,无官中更是雪上加霜。 个人收藏这个系列的原因是战斗系统有女神侧身像的影子,但是别期待太多。
Agarest: Generations of War 2 is a bold and divisive continuation of Idea Factory’s long-running tactical RPG series, developed by Idea Factory and published on PC by Ghostlight LTD. Rather than simply iterating on the structure of its predecessors, the game reimagines several core systems while retaining the franchise’s defining themes of legacy, fate, and generational consequence. Set in a parallel universe separate from the earlier Agarest titles, it tells a darker, more morally charged story and introduces a combat system that deliberately breaks away from traditional grid-based tactics, making it one of the most experimental entries in the series. The narrative begins on a bleak and mysterious note, with the protagonist Weiss awakening with no memories and branded as the man who killed a god. Guided by the enigmatic Eva, Weiss is told that he now serves as a vessel for divine power and must restore balance to a fractured world. This premise immediately establishes a more somber tone than earlier Agarest games, focusing on guilt, sacrifice, and the cost of defying destiny. As the story unfolds, players discover that Weiss’s fate is inseparable from the choices he makes, particularly in how he forms bonds with others. The generational structure returns here, spanning three eras, with each generation shaped by the relationships and decisions of the one before it. Romantic choices once again determine the next protagonist, influencing inherited stats, abilities, and narrative perspective, reinforcing the idea that personal bonds echo across time. One of the most striking departures from earlier entries is the combat system. Agarest: Generations of War 2 abandons the familiar grid-based movement and extended area mechanics in favor of a formation-driven battle model. Instead of manually positioning characters on a battlefield, players select a leader and assign party members to formations that automatically determine placement, attack order, and synergy bonuses. Battles unfold as coordinated sequences rather than spatial skirmishes, emphasizing timing, formation choice, and combo chains over precise tile positioning. This redesign significantly speeds up encounters and reduces the micromanagement that defined previous games, but it also sacrifices some tactical granularity, which may disappoint fans who preferred the slower, more deliberate pacing of earlier entries. Despite this shift, the game retains a strong focus on customization and progression. Characters grow through traditional leveling, equipment upgrades, and skill development, while relationship systems continue to play a central role in shaping outcomes. Affinity with party members affects not only story scenes but also combat effectiveness and generational inheritance. In addition to battles and story progression, the game includes various side activities and mini-games that offer stat boosts and deepen character bonds. These diversions help break up the dense narrative and provide moments of levity, though their mechanical impact varies and may feel optional rather than essential. Visually, Agarest: Generations of War 2 leans heavily into anime visual novel presentation. Character portraits are expressive and detailed, and dialogue scenes often dominate the experience, reinforcing the story-driven nature of the game. Exploration between story nodes is relatively minimal, with most player interaction occurring through menus, battles, and conversations rather than free roaming. While the presentation is clean and consistent, it also reflects the game’s niche roots, with visuals that feel functional rather than lavish. The soundtrack complements the darker narrative tone, using somber and dramatic themes to underscore key moments, while voice acting adds emotional weight even when the pacing slows. Pacing remains one of the game’s most contentious aspects. While the revised combat system reduces battle length compared to earlier Agarest titles, the overall experience is still lengthy and dialogue-heavy. Story progression can feel uneven, with long stretches of exposition followed by bursts of combat or character development. For players invested in the lore and generational themes, this density can be rewarding, but those seeking a more streamlined or action-focused RPG may find it exhausting. Difficulty balance can also be inconsistent, occasionally requiring grinding or careful optimization to overcome sudden spikes. Ultimately, Agarest: Generations of War 2 is a game defined by its willingness to take risks within a niche genre. Its reworked combat system, darker narrative, and parallel-universe setting make it stand apart not only from its predecessors but from many tactical RPGs as a whole. While these changes won’t appeal to everyone, particularly longtime fans who favored the original grid-based design, they give the game a distinct identity. For players who enjoy deep, relationship-driven JRPGs and are willing to engage with complex systems and extended storytelling, it offers a demanding but memorable experience that explores the consequences of choice across generations in a uniquely uncompromising way. Rating: 6/10
The Agarest games are always great. Funny how I was the only one playing this game lately according to the steam charts lol Its fun and is a good game. I have newer and more polished titles I could play but this one gets addictive.
Probably the best game on the PS3, Some of the finest writing available to RPGs, and easily clears as the best gameplay of its type. Truly a masterpiece of a game if you use the DLC cuz Idea Factory can't balance a game to save it's life lmao, and I love it.
