About

Taking place in the vibrant city of Jakarta, capital of Indonesia, Afterlove EP is a blend of visual novel, narrative adventure and rhythm game elements from the creator of Coffee Talk and What Comes After.
Step into the shoes of Rama, a young musician struggling to move on with life after the death of his girlfriend, Cinta.
Whilst his close friends and bandmates are all determined to help him move on, Rama has been stuck for more than a year. He’s neglecting his music, his mental health and his relationships.
Making things harder, he’s hearing Cinta’s voice inside his head, unsure if she is a spirit or part of his imagination.

Rama’s band has a critical gig in one month’s time. Either he gets serious about his music and delivers the new songs he has been promising or the band will move on without him.
Over twenty-eight days and nights it will be your choices that determine the path Rama takes. Explore the city, choose which relationships to repair and which new ones to pursue. Come to terms with the past, rediscover your creative voice and help Rama shape a future for himself.

Discover modern day Jakarta through side-scrolling exploration, engage in deep and meaningful conversations with the characters of your choosing and jam with your band in rhythm game sections.

Part of the burgeoning Indonesian indie game development scene, Afterlove EP seeks to create an authentic window into modern urban life in Indonesia.

Set in the streets of Jakarta where several of the developers live or have lived, the game also features the distinctive, manga-inspired art of renowned Indonesian artist Soyatu and an original soundtrack from Indonesian indie band L’Alphalpha.

No stranger to stories which tug at the heartstrings, Afterlove EP is the final project from renowned narrative designer, writer and developer, Mohammad Fahmi, who sadly passed away in March 2022 at the age of 32.

Pikselnesia is an Indonesian indie studio founded by Fahmi for the Afterlove EP project. After his passing, the team pledged to complete the game and bring his vision to fruition.
Fully remote, the team is spread across Indonesia and team members have worked on games including A Space for the Unbound, What Comes After and Hello Good Boy.

Wholesome game, and the music is amazing!
Au début j'était pas spécialement convaincu par l'histoire, et puis j'ai compris qu'on pouvait date Satria et là c'est bon j'étais à fond dedans.
Afterlove EP is an emotionally driven slice-of-life adventure that blends visual novel storytelling, relationship choices, side-scrolling exploration, and rhythm-game sequences into an unusually personal experience. Developed by Pikselnesia and published by Fellow Traveller, the game is set in modern-day Jakarta and follows Rama, a musician whose life has largely stalled following the death of his girlfriend, Cinta. Rather than building its story around saving the world or confronting a conventional villain, it focuses on the quieter struggle of learning how to live again after losing someone who once defined a major part of your life. Rama has spent more than a year unable to properly move forward. His music has suffered, friendships have become strained, and his emotional condition influences almost every aspect of his daily routine. Most significantly, he continues to hear Cinta's voice in his head. Rama himself cannot determine whether this is genuinely her presence or simply his mind refusing to let her go. This uncertainty gives the story an interesting psychological dimension because Cinta effectively remains part of his life, commenting on his actions even while he tries to rebuild relationships and consider what his future might look like without her. The story unfolds across twenty-eight days and nights, giving Rama a limited period in which to rediscover his creative motivation and reconnect with the people around him. Players decide how he spends his time, which relationships deserve attention, and whether he should pursue new emotional connections. Choices can steer the narrative toward different routes and endings, providing meaningful replay value beyond a single playthrough. The decisions work especially well because they often feel like personal choices rather than obvious good-or-bad morality tests. Repairing one friendship or spending time with one person may mean sacrificing another opportunity, making time itself an important resource. Jakarta plays an equally significant role in establishing the game's personality. Side-scrolling exploration allows players to move through different locations while meeting characters and discovering pieces of Rama's everyday life. The city is presented as a contemporary place inhabited by ordinary people rather than simply serving as an exotic backdrop. This provides an appealing glimpse into Indonesian urban culture and helps the game establish an identity that feels considerably different from the settings commonly found in narrative adventures. The hand-drawn presentation complements this atmosphere beautifully. Manga-inspired character artwork from Soyatu gives the cast distinctive personalities, while the environments create a warm illustrated interpretation of Jakarta. The game does not rely on elaborate 3D technology or spectacular visual effects. Instead, its appeal comes from cohesive art direction, expressive character designs, and environments that resemble panels from a stylish graphic novel. This approach is particularly effective for a dialogue-heavy experience because facial expressions, poses, and composition help communicate emotions that the writing does not always need to state directly. Music is naturally essential to Rama's story. Songs performed by Indonesian indie band L'Alphalpha reinforce the game's connection to its setting while also supporting Rama's identity as a musician. Certain sections become rhythm-based performances in which players participate directly in the musical side of the narrative. These segments are relatively straightforward compared with dedicated rhythm games, but that simplicity suits their purpose. They function as extensions of Rama's personal journey rather than isolated arcade challenges, illustrating his gradual attempt to reconnect with something that once gave his life direction. The mixture of genres is both one of the game's strengths and one of its limitations. Afterlove EP contains visual novel elements, dating and relationship mechanics, exploration, interactive conversations, and rhythm gameplay, but storytelling remains the dominant component. Players seeking highly sophisticated rhythm mechanics or complex exploration may find those portions comparatively light. Much of the experience involves reading conversations, making choices, traveling between locations, and observing how Rama's relationships evolve. Anyone who prefers constant action may therefore struggle with its deliberately reflective pacing. Where the game becomes considerably more effective is in its handling of grief. Rama is not portrayed as someone who simply needs to receive encouragement and instantly become happy again. His inability to move forward has consequences for himself and for the friends who have tried to support him. Relationships require effort to repair, while pursuing new romantic possibilities raises uncomfortable questions about loyalty, memory, guilt, and acceptance. The narrative understands that continuing with life does not require erasing the person who was lost. That distinction gives its emotional themes greater maturity. There is additional significance to the project because it was the final game conceived by narrative designer Mohammad Fahmi, known for his work on Coffee Talk and What Comes After. After his passing, the Indonesian team he founded continued the project and completed his vision. That background naturally resonates with a story concerned with loss and continuing forward, but Afterlove EP is capable of standing independently because of its strong cultural identity, appealing cast, distinctive artwork, and sincere approach to its themes. Steam Deck owners are particularly well served. Afterlove EP is Steam Deck Verified, meaning it carries Valve's highest official compatibility classification for the handheld. Its functionality works with the default controller configuration, appropriate controller icons are displayed, interface text is considered legible on the Deck's screen, and the default graphics settings perform properly. Its dialogue-heavy structure and relatively relaxed pace also make it naturally suited to portable sessions. Afterlove EP ultimately works best for players who value characters and emotional storytelling above mechanical complexity. Some gameplay systems could have been developed more deeply, and the slow pacing will inevitably narrow its appeal, but these weaknesses do little to diminish what the experience is trying to accomplish. Its depiction of modern Jakarta, memorable audiovisual identity, branching relationships, musical elements, and thoughtful examination of grief combine into something distinctive. Instead of treating recovery as a destination, it presents moving forward as an imperfect collection of conversations, decisions, setbacks, and new possibilities. For players willing to engage with its measured pace and dialogue-focused design, it delivers a touching and culturally distinctive narrative adventure. Rating: 8/10

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Hands down my favorite sleeper hit this year. The storytelling is phenomenal and relationships feel really natural. Music is excellent and the story has really stuck with me even months later. Do yourself a favor and play this game.
Simply brilliant.
