About

Solve, evolve, and let go.
After Light Fades is a magical sokoban-style puzzle journey about grief, memory, and transformation.
You play as Alice, who, after the loss of her partner Aura, discovers seven artefacts tied to powerful memories. To heal, she must revisit the places they once shared and cast each artefact into an abyss, where each world reflects a stage of Alice’s emotional journey. As you part with each artefact, you also give up the unique mechanic it granted, turning the act of puzzle-solving into a powerful reflection on letting go.
Explore seven handcrafted fantasy environments, spanning over 100 puzzles, each reflecting a stage of grief. From shimmering coves to shifting manors, every world features its own emotional tone and puzzle mechanics, each ending in a powerful act of letting go.
Solve spatial puzzles where objects interact in surprising and meaningful ways. Use mirrors, magnets, fire, vines, clones, and elemental systems in deeply layered challenges that evolve far beyond traditional box-pushing.
Experience a metaphor-driven narrative told through puzzles and play. Each artefact you master must eventually be left behind, mirroring the emotional journey of grief, acceptance, and change.

Build your own puzzles using the full feature set. Upload them to Steam Workshop and explore unique levels created by the community.

Target Audience: Puzzle Players Who Like Challenge....and Pain. Summary: Look, it's a game for a more hardcore puzzle audience, because After Light Fades is not the kind of game to get into the sokobon genre with. It ramps things up quickly, doesn't have tools to really give hints/help new players, and could really be hard to keep focused on specific elements with the presentation at hand. With that said, it's also the type of puzzle game that addicts of the genre would want: a twist on mechanics with the interaction of items, the challenge of a difficult puzzle and the gratification of when you succeed. That's where the game is at its best, but you're going to be really pushing It's story is alright, but may be better as time goes along with mechanics seemingly connected to it (ritual spells type ideas). It's presentation does the job but can get in the way of puzzles at times. Sound Design is alright, but nothing special. Really, it's all about the main puzzles here: and if you like spending half an hour on one puzzle smacking your head against the wall as you try to figure out the one specific element to get through it: then this game is definitely for you. If you like puzzle games but aren't great at them: keep an eye on the level editor and additional features. If you are new to puzzle games, go play other ones before this one. First Impressions Video: : https://youtu.be/2osPIKvxHmg Lists: Positives:

Puzzle Element do work well in challenging the player and making them feel like gold when completing the puzzle.
Some of the interactions between items and tiles works well and is atypical of Sokoban, but still fits into the game.
Concepts of Spells/Branching story optional elements is interesting at core (again, theory here) and makes me want to finish it when I have the chance. Like the focus on Grief.
Re-emphasizing the challenge part of puzzles: it really can be awesome when stuff works out.
Negatives:

Not friendly to newbies: game ramps up quickly and is unforgiving in a lot of ways.
Could expose players to undo/better system for hints earlier on. Level system could do better easing into mechanics.
Presentation can get in the way as sometimes it's hard to notice what's the playable area and what's not
Would like to have seen some stats at the end of levels to see how many steps/etc were done. Sokoban game where you pull items instead of pushing them. For someone who plays a lot of sokoban games, gameplay will feel very awkward and unintuitive.
I'm planning to play this for a long time. The puzzles are challenging. So much that I would say it would definitely ward off an average gamer, this is absolutely for experienced block pushing puzzle gamers. I hope for the story not to be too heavy, we will see. I absolutely recommend this game.
A common mistake that new puzzle makers fall victim to is that they drown their puzzles with lots of objects to create the illusion of difficulty. In reality, it only increases the tedium.
I've never played a sokoban puzzle game before. This was SUCH an enjoyable experience. I only played for a little over an hour, but each puzzle was genuinely so great. I had to actually sit and think on some of the levels. Solving each puzzle, regardless of the difficulty, felt rewarding every time. Looking forward to playing more!
Definitely need to check this game out if you like puzzle games! I wasn't familiar with Sokoban-type puzzles so there was a big learning curve for me, but the game has been really fun! It's also beautiful with soothing music. It can get very difficult at times, but that just means you're working out your brain. I love puzzles and figuring things out, it's a must-have if you do too!
I'm enjoying this game so much. The puzzle mechanisms are really good and the build up of complexity is fantastic. I've struggled to get through some of the levels, but the Eureka moments are so worthwhile.
es un juego q va por niveles y tienes q mover elementos para desbloquear el camino. el moviento es algo raro y me imagino q lo mejoraran, es un juego tranquilo y se ve bonito, no es mi tipo pero si t gusta el tema puzzle esta bien
Stunning graphics, great puzzle design, beautiful atmosphere, fun problem-solving - thank you very much!
