Childhood bro, simple but i like this game
Action Ball 2 is an energetic arcade experience that successfully revitalizes the classic brick-breaker genre with a healthy mix of action, progression, and creative level design. Developed and published by Rionix, the game takes the familiar paddle-and-ball formula and expands it into a much larger adventure filled with enemies, boss encounters, upgrades, and an entertaining science-fiction storyline. Instead of simply clearing rows of bricks, players embark on a mission to rescue Captain Livsey's kidnapped robotic cat after it is taken to Mars by the Robot Empire. While the narrative remains lighthearted, it gives the campaign a welcome sense of direction and helps distinguish the game from more traditional arcade titles. The gameplay remains faithful to the fundamentals that made brick-breakers so enduringly enjoyable. Players guide a paddle across the bottom of the screen, carefully keeping the ball in motion while smashing through intricate block formations. Precision, timing, and quick reactions are consistently rewarded, especially as the stages become more elaborate and introduce faster-moving hazards. The controls feel smooth and responsive, allowing players to accurately redirect the ball while reacting to unexpected obstacles. Every successful chain of destruction delivers the satisfying feedback that arcade fans expect, making each completed stage feel rewarding. What elevates Action Ball 2 beyond a standard breakout clone is the impressive variety incorporated throughout its lengthy campaign. Beyond destroying bricks, players must confront aggressive robotic enemies, avoid environmental hazards, and defeat enormous bosses that introduce fresh mechanics and demand strategic play. These encounters break up the familiar gameplay loop and ensure that each chapter presents something different. Rather than relying on repetitive stage layouts, the game constantly introduces new ideas that keep players engaged and encourage them to adapt their approach as the adventure unfolds. Progression also plays a significant role in maintaining long-term interest. Players gradually improve their paddle by unlocking permanent upgrades that enhance offensive capabilities, survivability, and overall effectiveness. Temporary power-ups further enrich every stage by granting weapons such as lasers, missiles, explosive projectiles, and other combat-enhancing abilities. These bonuses frequently transform the pace of gameplay, turning routine brick-clearing into fast-paced battles filled with explosions and visual spectacle. Cosmetic paddle skins add another layer of customization, giving players additional incentives to continue advancing through the campaign. The presentation complements the gameplay with colorful environments, detailed backgrounds, and lively visual effects that capture the spirit of classic arcade gaming while feeling polished enough for modern audiences. Bright explosions, animated enemies, and satisfying destruction effects create an exciting atmosphere without cluttering the screen. The soundtrack and sound effects reinforce the game's energetic tone, helping every successful shot, boss battle, and power-up feel impactful. Although the graphics prioritize style over realism, they suit the game's arcade identity exceptionally well. With more than 150 levels, multiple gameplay variations, challenging boss fights, and a rewarding upgrade system, Action Ball 2 offers substantial value for players who appreciate arcade action. The generous amount of content encourages replayability, whether through improving high scores, mastering difficult stages, or experimenting with different power-up combinations. The increasing difficulty ensures that experienced players remain challenged, while newcomers can steadily improve their skills as new mechanics are introduced throughout the adventure. Despite its strengths, the game is not without limitations. The core gameplay remains rooted in the traditional brick-breaker concept, meaning players who do not enjoy that style may eventually find the repetition difficult to overlook. Certain late-game stages and boss encounters can also become demanding, requiring sharp reflexes and careful planning that may frustrate less experienced players. Fortunately, the progression system and frequent upgrades provide enough assistance to make these tougher moments feel fair rather than overwhelming. Overall, Action Ball 2 is an excellent example of how a classic arcade genre can be refreshed without abandoning its original appeal. Rionix successfully combines nostalgic gameplay with modern progression systems, varied level design, memorable boss encounters, and satisfying action mechanics to create an experience that remains consistently entertaining from beginning to end. Fans of classic brick-breakers will appreciate the faithful foundation, while those looking for a more dynamic arcade adventure will find plenty of reasons to stay invested throughout its expansive campaign. Rating: 8/10
This game started off on a positive note with plenty of action and lots to do. Unfortunately there were many issues. The upgrade points do not seem to do that much or add that much to the game. I could not see much difference at all. In some levels there was too much going on to be able to concentrate. It is easy to move into a bomb or kamikaze robot or miss the ball and die. On one level the ball warps kept making the ball constantly move from side to side. I think this was poor design and I did not finish this level - it took over 30 minutes to complete because for the most of the level the ball was just moving from one warp to another. Unlike the first game, increasing your number of lives seems much more difficult. By the time you get to the boss levels, you tend to only have a few lives to play with, particularly later in the game. Level 60 of the first theme was the killer. I had only two lives - the two bosses have multiple types of attack and there can be a lot going on . Even if I was not hit by one of the bosses I kept dying, sometimes for no apparent reason. It would appear there might have been something wrong with the collision detection or something. I cannot stand unfair/stupidly hard boss fights so at this point and many attempts to complete this level I gave up, and removed the game permanently from my account.
