Missing a pause option. Even early in the game (San Francisco bay), the action is too hectic for me. I'm missing an option to pause the game and still move the camera around. You can pause the game by going to the options menu. So when there's somebody at the door e.g. you can pause and continue later. I'm putting the game aside untill maybe ever there will be a patch for the pause issue. Else it's a remarkebly fun rts for a 20+ years old game.
A masterpiece of RTS, wish there's more game like this, in modern era, in real streets, with an easy gameplay, good story... such a good game.
Excellent if janky C&C retro feel and gameplay. The cut scenes are not lighthearted its bizzarly GWOT propaganda-ish? A good 10-15 hour single player game. It's totally worth 2 dollars? Modern resolutions might take leg work but i didn't bother the art style make units pretty easy to pick apart even with the old stuff.
good
10/10 Got oil
Act of War stands out for its high-quality FMV cutscenes, which add a strong cinematic feel and help ground the experience in a believable, modern setting. The story itself is well written and, unfortunately, feels uncomfortably relevant even today, giving the narrative extra weight. The use of aerial bombardments and off-map support was a refreshing addition for its time, bringing intensity and spectacle to battles in a way that felt innovative compared to other RTS games of that era. That said, the late-game difficulty spike feels unfair, putting excessive pressure on the player without a clear learning curve, which disrupts the otherwise solid pacing. Overall, Act of War remains a very enjoyable experience for its time, with strong atmosphere and ambitious ideas that still deserve appreciation despite its late-game flaws.
