It's an excellent dogfighter (good AI tactics, use of obstacles, etc.) with a mission editor. Currently a strong space dogfighter sim and not much more but loaded with potential. Treat as an Early Access review - the dev is talking about adding more loadout customisation and a stronger narrative, and if that happens this game will really become something special.
My review here will be short, but given this seems to be a single dev making a narrowly focused game, it provided what I wanted from it. I just bought a HOTAS setup recently, and oh man do I suck with it, but I want to get ready for star wars squadrons, get some practice, make the feel and the buttons become second nature. Absolute Territory is perfect for that, in that it uses most of the same key features. Space flight combat sim, not-really-space flight engine, with hotas support, drifts, and weapon-shields-engines power distribution. It also catches a little bit of nostalgia as an oldschool 90's era space flight sim. I won't lie, the game isn't great. The mission briefing is just big text blocks, no voice acting, no cutscene of any sort. Not even a friggin diagram. The graphics are right out of 90's era, nothing to write home about. No customization that I have found yet at all. But at its core, it has given me what I wanted, hands on time with my HOTAS, and it does it cleanly, with a good enough tutorial, and a solid enough engine to get some practice in in varying circumstances that feels good with my stick in my hands. Even at the discounted price it may be a bit overpriced, and if you're just coming looking for a good flight sim to sink your teeth into keep looking. But if you come in with open eyes, knowing what it is, it's decent enough.
level 12 is bugged
This is an amazing space dogfighting sim, obviously inspired by the original Wing Commander games, but with realistic physics and good graphics. It has 6DOF - you can strafe or turn in any direction, though forward is obviously strongest. Turning on "slide mode" is the same as flying decoupled, you keep going in the same direction unless you apply thrust. Briefings are text only, very simple and not much background info, but I love that you can get to the action quickly, without grinding or other tedium. My HOSAS (dual VKB Gladiator NXTs) work well, after going through the menus to assign axis and buttons. I wish there was a way to assign different buttons to the different primary weapons - rather than only being able to switch between either or both, I would like to press button one for laser repeater, button two for neutron bolts, etc. One thing missing is that there aren't really any damage states, you are either fine or you blow up. Also, the ship panels are kinda annoying because they are just static background graphics to be ignored. But if you just want to jump into a starfighter and dogfight some bad guys this is a great game.
Just started it up to configure it and see how the flight and combat feel before getting into the meat of it. IT'S AWESOME.
This is a great little space fighter title. Wing Commander boiled down to the essence. Played with mouse and keyboard for a bit, but HOTAS is the way to go. Getting them set up was a breeze, though if you are the kind of person that tweaks your deadzones and such to the nth degree with every title, you might find the options a little lacking. Very fun, well worth the price of admission. I'll definitely return to it again and again when I want some starfighter action without much complication.
This game is good. It feels a little barren when you're flying around with nothing nearby to see, but the game is good.
Boş bir oyun. Manasız Hiç bir Oynanır tarafı yok. Eski nintendolar daha zevk verir siyah beyazlar emin olun.
