Ablepsia is yet another of several hundred, if not thousands of garbage low effort endless runners plaguing Steam. Unlike most of them, this one is attempting, badly, to be "artistic" by trying to make some Steam cash from exploiting blindness as a handicap. That's charming, but Steam is often abused by people trying to make a quick buck. Like all endless/autorunners, you're moving and you can't change direction, but in this one you can pause, at least, which you need to do so you can click on obstacles to remove them. All you do is avoid the obstacles coming at you in this incredibly shallow shovelware game, and click on street lights as you endlessly run by. Also like most endless runners, there's no end, it's a score attack game, and it's also been dumped on Steam as a mild achievement spam game. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the poor choice of using node-webkit/NW.js instead of a serious game engine. This is a very poor quality toolset for gaming, which it's not well suited for, so unfortunately has very limited capabilities because it's primary function for games is to make simple HTML/browser/simple mobile apps rather than full fledged PC games (and given we are here for PC games, you can see why this is a problem). Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 10 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. One of the driving elements of this shovelware game is "achievement spam", that is to say the game features a reasonably large number of trivial/automatically granted achievements, 38 of them, in fact. It's a damning indictment for this shovelware that people only bought it for easy achievements, and not because it has any serious merit as a real game. Ablepsia has the almost scam-like price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam.
The game is simple, short and to the point. But it does everything it promises. + Multiple maps with increasing difficulty + The Ability to stop + Easy to understand + Achievments + The Music - Achievment spam once u open the game - Even the slightest touch of something dangerous kills you instantly - Short I suggest you give it a try if theres any chance you may like it, especially if you are a completionist Gameplay : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkj8Q4BFv3k
I see in the reviews this game is getting a lot of droopy thumbs. And yes, the comments make good negative points. However I am decided to give the game a stiff thumb for this reason. The game is unique and shows a dev with a creative mind, and so I am giving a stiff thumb to encourage the creator to continue on his/her/? journey in making games. I think there is potential here, so my stiff thumb is an encouragement to NedoStudios not to be disheartened by droopy thumbs. Buy it on sale (90% off). 100% achievements in 30 minutes + 1 perfect game on your profile.
For $11.99? Absolutely not. I picked this up in a bundle ages ago, and enjoyed my time with it well enough--but that time only came up to about 37 minutes. The game is easily beatable, doesn't really change up from level to level aside from just adding more things you have to dodge, and all in all just isn't worth the price tag.
Completely broken, and it looks like the devs did it deliberately. Two can play at that game Nedo Studio.
Good for achievements I guess... After all it can be really frustrating, especially the spikes. If you have already completed some maps and didn't complete the tutorial.. DON'T You'd have to start from map 1 again. It's a fun little game after all
eu passei muita raiva nesse jogo embora ele seja bem facil e bom pra pegar achievements, ele eh extremamente repetitivo e apresenta alguns bugs eu gostei do joguinho, porem as fases poderiam ser mais diferentes
