I'm beginning to go through my games library, and along side that review each game as I come to them, this marks the beginning of a journey, this game is the first. Aashaa is a relatively simple but delightfully challenging 2d platformer that is quite short but overall a very enjoyable experience. While it doesn't do anything particularly noteworthy with the genre, it rather excels in the basics, definitely a great start. The graphics is designed in a rather simple 2d pixelated form and serve just well enough, nothing stands out here which is just fine given the game's intent as well as it's limited scope. You see much of the same assets as you go through maps, a treasure chest here, a barrel there, while not really adding anything super unique to the backdrop of brick, it sufficiently adds enough to keep your eyes from complete monotony which is welcome. I would have loved to have seen some more unique additions along the way, markings on the walls or perhaps a statue you jump over for example, just something to give the dungeon a bit more flavor. The story itself is short and sweet, you're set to be the queen as the previous matriarch has died but your belittled brother dropped you in a dungeon in a nefarious plot, get out of the dungeon yada yada. Really what's special here is how the story is told, the voice's repeatedly say "blah blah blah" as they speak, quite literally mocking the story as it's not much important really. The humor is great, wish I could have had more of it. Gameplay is where this game shines as I mentioned before it's simple but done excellently, the controls are tight and responsive, the hazards are well placed and the dash, wall jump. double jump all work great, There's extra side rooms you can acquire more hearts that are entirely unnecessary but a nice fun addition. a small addendum however is upon hitting a hazard it bounces you backwards, which can lead to incidentally more hearts lost as if you are holding towards a hazard you may end up slamming your face in that hazard a few more times, as there is no damage immune state you'll die very quickly in these scenarios, and can feel pretty bad. Overall this is an excellent platformer but given it's short playtime I wouldn't go spending any money on it. Given that it's free? Totally give it a shot it's real fun and I can definitely see some excellent speedruns coming out of this game.

This game is short but sweet i have been playing for a long time trying to speedrun it and my personal best time is 10:04:56 i would like to see any of you beat it (glitchless by the way) (now its 09 28 40)
