AaaaaaaAAaaaaAAAaaAaAAaAaAaA
More like Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh for the uninspired. Gameplay soon reveals its limitations. The mechanics of freefalling and maneuvering around obstacles feel functional but lack the depth and polish to truly stand out. Controls are responsive enough to get by, but they don't elevate the experience beyond mere adequacy. The core premise revolves around hurling yourself off towering skyscrapers, navigating through a psychedelic landscape of floating obstacles, and racking up points by performing daring stunts and graffiti-ing buildings on your way down. It's a concept that initially sparks interest but quickly settles into a predictable rhythm. Despite its average gameplay if you're looking for a game that offers plenty of levels to hone your base jumping skills without demanding too much in terms of innovation or narrative depth, this might just fit the bill.
This isn't really much of a game.
Confusing and chaotic
I'd recommend this game, with the caveat that it's probably worth closer to $5, especially this far from its release. The game is very simple and pleasant to spend a bit of time in, but there really isn't much more to the game than you see on the tin. You jump, you try to stay as close to objects as possible without hitting them, and then you try to stick the landing. There are a few powerups you can unlock, such as the ability to flip off people protesting your antics, but there are really no fundamental changes to that, at least that I've seen while perusing the unlockables. The game also suffers a bit from its age, especially in the realm of input compatibility. While controllers do technically work (and dual analog input is really handy for a precision movement game like this), none of the instructions, tutorials, or tooltips provide information for anything except mouse & keyboard, forcing one to figure out even simple things like how to deploy their parachute blades for themselves. (At least for my controller, B deployed the parachute blades, and the left and right triggers were a thumbs up or obscene gesture, respectively.) Overall, this is fun for short play sessions - or maybe longer if you get really fixated on beating your previous high score - but it probably doesn't have the staying power to be worth full price, at least for me.
Entretenido y vertiginoso juego para echar un rato corto.

For the Awesome is a basejumping game. You jump off a building and fall, dodging obstacles, collecting points and interacting with the world, and hopefully land safely at the end. Each level is brief, but filled to the brim with adrenaline. I suspect it in no way resembles actual basejumping, but then, it doesn’t have to. It resembles an idealised form of basejumping, where the idea of almost certain death is something to be joked about, and where the point is never to land safely, but rather, to fall spectacularly. The player becomes a spectacle, and it’s fun. As fun as the basejumping is, it’s the greater world that really gives Aaaa! For the Awesome its heart and soul. There are fragments of a greater story sprinkled throughout that tell a surreal narrative about why the player is jumping off a building and what the world beyond those buildings actually is. This narrative doesn’t actually matter for the fun of the game - basejumping is going to be fun, regardless of where it’s set - but it adds a character and a surrealness to the game that make it an infinitely more interesting experience. Did I need to feel the sensation of bugs crawling on my skin in a game about jumping off buildings? No. Am I grateful that the game created it anyway? …I guess? It’s this combination of surreal, colourful environments and cheeky humour that make Aaaa! For the Awesome special. As terrible as I was at the controls - and to be clear, this is not a game meant to be played on touchpad, nor did I expect it to be - I found myself with tears of laughter rolling down my face at the humour and audacity of the game. This is not a game that holds back in lampooning itself, the situations it contrives, or the player themselves. It is self-aware, and happy to invite the player to have a laugh alongside it. It is also, most importantly, just fun.
very cool, very fast, must be crazy playing this on a VR
It's a classic
Quite the throwback, and cool to see it's on steam (though it was quite difficult to find it. Thankfully I received it as a birthday present) It's an action-packed arcade game for those interested in fast-paced levels where you need to think on your feet to achieve five stars. Dejobaan Games and Owlchemy Labs added a quirky and engaging sense of humour that helped establish an interesting, though not overly complicated lore. This game has been so much fun to play back when I first had it, and it's nice to go back to it every once in a while as well. Thanks for being awesome fellas.
