Playing A Summer in Our Hearts feels like opening an old photo album and falling right into it. The game isn’t just about a summer; it’s about your summers, or at least how you imagine they should’ve been. It’s warm, bittersweet, and maybe a little idealized, but that’s kind of the point. The writing shines here. The characters feel real—not in a gritty, hyper-detailed way, but in how their stories resonate. You might cringe at some of the dialogue or roll your eyes at the predictability of a few moments, but then a line or scene will hit you out of nowhere, and you’ll feel your chest tighten a little. Gameplay-wise, it’s simple. Think of it as a mix between a visual novel and a light slice-of-life sim. There’s nothing groundbreaking about the mechanics, but they do their job: keeping you engaged while letting the story take center stage. Sometimes, though, the pacing stumbles. A few sections drag on longer than they need to, and you might find yourself wishing for a fast-forward button. The real star here is the atmosphere. The art, music, and writing come together to create this sense of wistful nostalgia that lingers even after you’ve put the game down. Sure, it can feel a little cheesy at times—like it’s trying too hard to tug at your heartstrings—but when it works, it really works. If you’ve ever longed for simpler days or wondered about the “what-ifs” of your past, A Summer in Our Hearts will strike a chord. It’s not perfect, but it doesn’t need to be. It’s like a memory: messy in places, but undeniably special.

A cute, simple, and well put together VN!! Put a smile on my face ^^ Even with the simple story lines, I was definitely able to take away and honestly learn from the interactions of the MC and the two girls, especially in the heartwarming ending of Sayuri's route. I adore how the two sort through their problems together even when facing the realistic consequences of decisions that may have hurt one another. The way the MC sincerely puts in the most of effort and takes time to evaluate what is best to do, and where they stand in situations like these was so so nice to see. will definitely go back to finish Akemi's route soon muwhahaha
Cute little polished VN that's free. Caw caw, crow.
New year and a lovely new VN
a very well made visual novel with an above average story. I wouldve loved for it to be longer but the stuff that there is, is very much worth the time
