The lights flickered on and off way too often. A lot of the items are able to be grabbed, so when you try to grab something off of a shelf, you may just pick up the entire shelf and fling everything that was on it away. The lights going on and off just made it annoying to play unfortunately. I finished it though, and it was okay. I also felt the movement was a little difficult. There is no rotation lock so all turning has to be done physically. Which is fine when playing wireless, however players who play with the cord are going to end up tying themselves up.
------------------------------------------------- Although most of the criticisms are justified, I really enjoyed the game! It's well made, was bug-free and I had a lot of fun playing through it. Unfortunately it's actually a bit short, so it's not a bad thing that you can't save, the areas you're already familiar with are quickly completed again. Even the fact that you have to hold items actively is bearable, you don't have to carry an item around for a long time. These are all just minor inconveniences. I can definitely recommend it! Especially in one of the many sales.
A Lost Room is a virtual reality escape adventure developed and published by a studio of the same name, designed to recreate the tension and immersion of physical escape rooms within a digital space. Built exclusively for VR platforms, the game places players directly inside a mysterious facility composed of interconnected rooms filled with hidden clues, mechanical puzzles, and environmental challenges. Its ambition lies in translating the tactile, observational nature of real-world escape experiences into a fully interactive three-dimensional environment where presence and perspective matter. From the outset, players awaken in a confined room that feels deceptively simple. The initial puzzles introduce the mechanics of searching, grabbing, and manipulating objects using motion controls. Keys, tools, flashlights, and coded locks form the backbone of early problem-solving. However, as players progress deeper into the complex, the puzzles grow more layered and interconnected. Solutions rarely exist in isolation; clues discovered in one room may only become meaningful much later. This interconnected design encourages attentive exploration and careful memory, rewarding players who remain observant and methodical. The strength of A Lost Room lies in its reliance on physical interaction. In VR, players must lean closer to inspect surfaces, physically reach for hidden items, and position objects correctly within their environment. This tangible approach enhances immersion and can make even simple puzzles feel engaging. Turning a key, aligning symbols, or discovering a concealed passage behind a wall panel feels more immediate than clicking on a static image. The spatial design of each room supports this sense of presence, inviting players to search corners, inspect shelves, and look beneath furniture in a way that mirrors real-life escape scenarios. Atmosphere plays a significant role in shaping the experience. The facility is presented as a strange and somewhat unsettling space, combining utilitarian corridors with darker, more enigmatic chambers. Lighting is used strategically to create tension, with dim environments requiring the use of a flashlight to uncover hidden details. The sense of isolation amplifies the mood, as players move from room to room without clear guidance beyond environmental cues. This ambiguity can heighten suspense, reinforcing the feeling that you are trapped within an unfamiliar and potentially hostile environment. However, while the game’s concept is compelling, its execution can feel uneven. Controls and object interactions occasionally lack the smoothness expected from more polished VR titles. Grabbing certain items or triggering specific actions may require awkward positioning, breaking immersion during moments when fluid interaction is crucial. The reliance on manual input, such as holding certain buttons continuously to use tools, can also become tiring over extended sessions. These mechanical rough edges stand out more prominently in VR, where intuitive control is central to maintaining immersion. The puzzle design itself ranges from straightforward to genuinely challenging. Some sequences demand careful attention to numeric codes or item combinations, while others rely more on environmental observation. The absence of heavy-handed hints can make solving puzzles deeply satisfying, but it may also lead to moments of frustration if players overlook a critical detail. The game expects patience and persistence, qualities that align well with escape room enthusiasts but may test players unfamiliar with the genre’s slower pacing. In terms of content scope, the experience feels contained rather than expansive. While the interconnected rooms offer a sense of progression, the overall length may leave some players wishing for additional stages or narrative closure. The game focuses more on puzzle-solving mechanics than on elaborate storytelling, offering minimal exposition about the facility’s origins or purpose. For some, this minimal narrative framing enhances mystery; for others, it may feel underdeveloped. Ultimately, A Lost Room stands as an ambitious attempt to capture the essence of physical escape rooms within a virtual setting. Its immersive VR interaction and layered puzzle structure create moments of genuine engagement and satisfaction. At the same time, its mechanical imperfections and limited scope prevent it from reaching the level of refinement seen in higher-budget VR puzzle titles. For players who appreciate methodical exploration and the tactile nature of escape room challenges, it offers a compelling though imperfect journey into confinement and deduction. Rating: 5/10
Très saympa, avec une bonne durée de vie. Il m'a fallu presque 2h pour en sortir. Seul soucis : apparemment impossible de sauvegarder sa progression, il faut tout recommencer à chaque fois...
