It's easy to see that "A Knights Adventure" is just a low key asset flip.. the quality of the assets is significantly higher than the actual game is, and that's a glaring mismatch (and the assets themselves aren't really that good either).
You know a game isn't going to be fantastic when the developer's own marketing screenshots are from a copy of Windows he didn't buy a license for. The actual game itself is worse.
Putting aside (for a moment) the asset flip nature of this garbage, it's an awful game. It's really just a collection of medieval assets dumped on a very basic third person game blueprint for Unity... barely populated, all you can do is run around, do lightweight hack and slash, a little inventory management... everything looks like a basic game template with little else done with it.
This game is essentially a gallery of stock assets rearranged and kitbashed out, at first glance it looks okay, but there's much more to a game than the appearance that other people's game assets can provide. When developers aren't capable of doing their job and creating high quality assets, it's also true they can't do any of the rest of the job of a game developer either, and it shows here.
The developers abandoned this 4 years and 9 months ago. It will never be completed. This unfinished game is just polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuinely, completely made games.
This feels more like a tech demo or a project smacked together hurriedly to try make a kind of minimum viable product just good enough to pass the developers unambitious idea and shove it into Steam Direct to see if you can actually pay and publish junk through Steam Direct. Yeah, you can. Is this good for gamers? Nope.
This game is fairly dated at 5 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then, it looks worse now.
Now on to pricing and value for gamers.
There's no initial download price, but the developer was charging $4 USD for this... trying to get YOUR money for other people's Unity assets.
Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It seems like a nice gesture for the game to have no up-front cost anymore, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. This is also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who showed enough questionable judgement to pay money for this... nobody got refunded.
Even as a free product, this couldn't find an audience. With a peak of [b]only 2 users[/b], it's clear the Steam community took one look and walked away. They literally couldn't pay people to spend time with this.
Given that this free title won't increase your game collector count, is it worth your time to add it to your library?
Nope. I didn't have to pay for this, but I still feel like I got scammed.
Lastly, there are over 140,000 games on Steam, not every one of them is a hidden gem. I'm here to help gamers find the ones that actually matter in that sea of Steam Direct self-published mess.
