About
A.K.O is a vertical roguelike shooter built around one rule: you only use the arrow keys.
Your weapon fires automatically. Your job is everything else: move, dodge, read the room, swap elements, pick relics, and keep climbing when the screen starts getting rude.
Tap DOWN to swap elements. Time hitches for a split second so you can make the read.
Neutral paints targets for follow-up damage.
Fire burns fast and hits hard.
Ice slows, shoves, and sets up shatter damage.
Poison leaves clouds, spreads pressure, and turns space into a weapon.
Match an enemy's weakness and you hit harder. Fire into a resistance and you will feel it immediately.
35+ relics stack into synergies. Freeze enemies and shatter them. Leave fire trails behind your dash. Turn poison into healing. Two runs never feel the same.
Pick — build your own kit
Ward — slow, steady, hard to kill
Kite — high risk, high damage
Gaze — fast flight, hardest to control
Mark — vertical power, strong and flexible
Push deeper through five procedural dungeons and their bosses. Layer on challenge modifiers — no healing, crumbling floors, half HP — and see how far you get.
Visuals, music, and sound are generated from code at runtime. No assets. The entire shipping build is 11 MB.

Gooner Friendly Game (only requires one hand). 10/10 would recommend to gamers and gooners alike. The music is also quite nice. :) To be perfectly clear this game isnt like THAT TYPE OF GAME. im just saying that if you wanted to, you could. you could also use your extra hand to eat some Doritos without getting your keyboard dirty.
5/10. This is an interesting twist on the Vampire Survivors formula. The screen slowly scrolls upward while you're desperately trying to stay alive by finding platforms before you disappear off the bottom of the screen. At the same time, your character automatically fires at the many enemies flying around. The result feels a bit like a linear, platforming-focused version of Vampire Survivors. The problem is that a lot of what makes the survivors formula compelling has been stripped away. There don't seem to be any pickups to chase or meaningful exploration. Instead, the gameplay loop is mostly auto-fire, avoid death, and occasionally choose an upgrade. While the moment-to-moment action is fairly unique, the overall experience still feels familiar, and removing the exploration and item collection takes away a lot of what keeps me engaged in this genre. The upgrades didn't help much either. Like many survivors-likes, the choices felt fairly bland—mostly simple stat increases rather than upgrades that significantly change how you play. Maybe some become more interesting later, but in the couple of runs I played, they all felt interchangeable: pick one, get a little stronger, move on. Visually, the game is drenched in layers of visual effects. The constant VFX can make the action and especially text harder to read, and they often feel like they're compensating for graphics that are otherwise fairly plain. It's a bit like putting a VCR filter on Pong. You've certainly added color, motion, and noise, but not necessarily anything that feels intentional or meaningful. That said, if the underlying game design were stronger, I probably wouldn't care about the presentation. I do want to give credit to the developer for trying something different. There are countless Vampire Survivors-inspired games out there, and this genuinely feels like a distinct mashup rather than a direct clone. The core idea is intriguing. Unfortunately, too much of what makes the genre satisfying to me has been removed, and what remains wasn't compelling enough to hold my attention. BUT: I only spent about ten minutes with it before deciding it wasn't for me, so it's entirely possible there are great ideas waiting later on. TLDR: Interesting concept, but the execution didn't quite come together. This is definitely a thumb sideways review but out of deference to this being someone's first game and clearly a genuine attempt even if it wasn't my thing I'm going to give it a thumbs up. Since there's a free demo I strongly recommend you try that if this sounds at all like it might be your thing I think you'll know pretty quickly if it is or isn't.
