Little trap-dodger / shooter that's mostly a proof-of-concept
Concept: Flying a tiny spaceship through cramped levels, you find keys to open the door to the next area while avoiding hitting traps and occasional enemies. You can endure a couple of hits but the third will kill you and restart the level. 5.84 Wing does not host a real story. Idea is simple: you can rotate quickly using pad or mouse (I used the latter) and only boost forward. Naturally, you retain momentum and get damaged by crashing too fast into walls. You also got a tiny turret, used to destroy certain walls and fight enemies and bosses. There's three boss fights, inspired by video games of olde, each of which has at least two attack patterns or behaviours. They take a lot of shooting before they die. Killing bosses also grants an upgrade for your main weapon.
Some technicalities
Using keyboard and mouse, spacebar is the boost key and left-click shoots. Just to mention, there's no rebinding options, though I found the controls adequate. The control scheme itself needs a bit of getting used to. I encountered only one slight bug that when picking up the weapon upgrade the game slowed down for a sec: the upgrade should've been smooth.
Conclusions: It's got potential
For a sub-$1 game (which even then I got on sale), it was alright: not great but not too bad either. The main story lasted about 30 minutes, and there's a wave survival mode for some shooty action. All in all, it was fine if a bit forgettable experience with no real replay value. I would like to see a bigger game using the same concept, perhaps even with more cramped levels and also some harder challenge levels. Alright, I wont lie. It's a minimalist game, but it's still fun, it takes slightly under 2 hours to complete, i say definetly give it a try, the Dev seems like he deserves the support. Heres a Video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_R1anMKCAg
It's exactly what the description says, a minimalist game, nothing to do with adventure though, just a plain arcade shooter. The controls are a bit weird, that on a controller you both speed up and shoot with the shoulder trigger buttons, but you can also play with the mouse and shoot with the spacebar. I couldn't say what is better, mouse/keyboard is faster but in other levels the controller felt better. You get a few normal levels, boss, and that twice more (about 10-12 levels total including boss fights if i am not mistaken) so not that many as it says in the description but it's enough. To adress a negative review from 1 person. -Yes you can get hurt by hitting walls, but that's usually if you go too fast (which makes sense) go slow and it barely happens. -Boss fights, it might feel slow, but just keep the shoot button pressed instead of aim and then trying to fire, it will go a lot faster. For the price it's an okay game, but prepared to get frustrated (if you don't mind that). My only gripe is the survivor mode where you have to survive 8 waves (the achievement says 9 but when you start the 9th, you already get the achievement so you don't have the survive that one) but those are really insane the higher you go. You can try to get a record, but it's pure torture rather then something fun.
Cool idea, but it's extremely hard for all the wrong reasons: -You control the direction of your ship *and* aim with the left thumbstick. At first it's tolerable but when you have multiple enemies coming your way its almost impossible to maneuver and shoot. -Main weapon shoots slow and does little damage. -Bosses take way too many hits to kill. -Taking damage hitting a wall too fast is irritating, especially only having 3 hearts in a level along with enemies and obstacles in a level means you die fast and restart levels over and over. If bosses and enemies took less hits, health increased to 5 hearts and the controls were adjusted it would be a much better game, but as it is now I can't recommend it. Refunded for now, but I may rebuy in the future.
5.84 Wing is a laughably poor quality 2D retro pixel Russian shovelware SpaceWar! ripoff where you control a blocky pixel ship thing and shoot various enemies, collect keys and go through doors. That's right, Russian shovelware merchants, spaceships use keys to go through doors, that's how they work. Anyway this is particularly poor quality retro pixel garbage. Controls are locked, and can't be changed or customised to improve the control experience. While you get an option to change the resolution, this just scales up the blocky pixel "art" and doesn't actually change the resolution of the game assets. A pointless menu option. A choice was made to use obsolete retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. These flaws push this game far below minimum acceptable standards for PC. This is just more Russian shovelware/bundle trash dumped on Steam as a cash grab, and has no serious merit for gamers.
Worth it's price. The controls sure are quite hard but with enough time and energy you can get over it.
Honestly, pretty good game. Smooth movement that's pretty responsive. All the achievements work. Survival mode that gives you a chance to learn the movement and available power-ups before hitting the "campaign". The only issue I have is the second boss, the only way to win against this boss is to get hit by it in a corner and sit inside it and shoot it that way. The wind-up for the movement of your spaceship just isn't fast enough to compete with the boss's smash move.

Pretty fun game of flying a little ship around gathering keys, avoiding the obstacles, sometimes shooting enemies & bosses, and getting to the exit door. Takes around 40 minutes to 100%.
