Great fun
It's not bad for a couple of bucks. I like the Valkyries you use for bombs. One quibble - why have Music volume control but not SFX or ALL volume control?
sou fã de jogos assim super recomendo.
NO
C-Tier shmup I really wanted to like this but it's just too janky. I love the pixel art and the aesthetic is gonzo bonkers. However, it's just a bit buggy and unpolished.
1917 - The Alien Invasion DX has excellent looking pixel art style with an interesting WWI fighting demon aliens in spaaace!!! aesthetic. But the game is all style of substance. I like myself a simple, no frills shoot 'em up. I really do. I don't mind at all a weaker, usually more spread out shot that allows faster movement and a powerful narrower shot that slows my airplane down. However, neither of the two planes I have access to at the start of the game feel that good. The basic starter plane has a fine normal shot. Maybe on the weak side, but that forces the player to switch over to the power shot. However, the power shot doesn't feel good at all. The bullets fly in a zigzag pattern that takes a moment to get all the power where the player wants it. And it doesn't feel strong enough for some of the bigger regular stage enemies. So, it is easy to fall behind on the route and get overwhelmed. The only place the power shots feel strong is versus the stage bosses. Which really do feel like they do down faster than some of the bigger regular stage enemies. Though, I would rather quicker bosses, than drawn out ones. I thought maybe the slower, but stronger plane would be to my liking. Nope, the regular shot has an even wider spread, and power shot shots in every direction around the player' plane. Unless they let up off the shoot button to still fire a wide front attack. But this plane certain is slow. It isn't too bad with the regular shot speed. But the power shot does not allow for dodging anything that isn't half a screen away at least. So, neither of the planes feel at all fun to pilot. The game does have power-up and shield pickups. There fortunately aren't many levels to power up the plane, and shield pickups are pretty generous at the start. Though, the shield pickups don't seem to stack. The player gets one mistake with a shield. Honestly, both don't add anything. Since this isn't the early 1990s, the player could just start will power or maxed out pickups and recharging shield. Dropping those pickups altogether. It wouldn't make this a good game, but it wouldn't feel as awful to play. Perhaps the biggest flaw of 1917 - The Alien Invasion DX is that it doesn't make use of anything learned about honing the STG genre since the late 80s/early 90s. It might of been a pretty good shump with an interesting look to make it memorable. Instead, it feels like a mediocre shooter from the 16-bit era with neat graphics and recycled sound effects. I ultimately am left thinking the devs might like shumps, but they don't quite grasp the finer elements to make the fun.
