This game is tedious. The capybara are not hidden, they just scattered randomly on map and you have to find the one that the game tells you to find until you found all of them. One or two levels of this would have been fine, but 10 levels is mind numbing. If I wasn't achievement hunter, I would have given up and requested refund a long time ago.
100 Hidden Capybaras is a "find the animal game" with more of a challenge than other games of this sort. Instead of just finding each capybara and clicking on it whenever you see one, in this game you have to find the one that the game pops up. This makes it a bit more challenging and it extends the game play. It gives a different take on games like this which are now quite common. The game has 10 levels with 11 achievements. If you enjoy these type of games, I defiantly recommend this one if you want something that will require a bit more time and effort into finishing the puzzles.
100 Hidden Capybaras is a puzzle game where you search for 100 hidden capybaras, taking you on a journey across 10 maps worldwide, accompanied by a cozy soundtrack.
Gameplay
Controls are simple: use WASD to move around the map, the mouse scroll wheel to zoom in and out, and left-click to select a hidden capybara. Unlike other hidden-object games where you can click on any hidden item you find, this is a more challenging “find the hidden objects” game focused on locating 100 capybaras. You must click the hidden capybara that matches the capybara picture shown in the upper right corner—once found, it turns from black and white to colored. When you find all 100 capybaras on a map, the background also becomes colored. Every map comes with 4 hints. There’s no timer or scoreboard in this game, but it features 11 achievements.
Music
While playing, you’ll listen to cheerful, mood-boosting music, but only one background soundtrack is available. This can feel a bit repetitive if you play for long stretches of time.
Art
Every capybara featured in the objectives is adorable. You’ll find them in various poses: wearing different costumes, engaging in different activities, or holding objects. You’ll find some resting, playing the violin, dancing, reading books, skateboarding, and many more—the variety is charming! However, when tracking them on the map, they appear small and blurry, and many share similarities, making it difficult and time-consuming to spot the correct one.
Summary
This is a quite challenging “find the hidden objects” game, perfect for players who enjoy tricky puzzles, all paired with adorable capybaras to collect and a cozy background melody. (Edit) Achievements have been implemented overnight so, as promised, I have changed this review to a recommendation, albeit still lukewarm. Having now completed the game, I must say that the later levels - in which many of the capybaras are very small and/or only partially visible - are tough, but sadly not just in a good and challenging way. The very poor zoom function and the patchy & blurry quality of the capabara images, make identification of just a tiny visible detail very difficult indeed. ##### Although 100 Hidden Capybaras has a lot of content for its low price - in 99 minutes I have only completed two of the 10 levels and am part-way through a third - in many ways it is a disappointingly basic game, with a lazy re-use of images on every level, a very restrictive imposed searching mechanism, and non-functioning achievements, hence my current non-recommendation. I will change this review to a (lukewarm) recommendation if at least the advertised achievements are implemented. Each level consists of a different monochrome background on which 100 monochrome capybara images have been noticeably and crudely superimposed, with no attempt to make them fit the scene. The same images are used on every level so far (though some are rotated/reversed), and I assume that is true for the rest of the game too. Frustratingly each of the 100 images has to be found one at a time in a strict order imposed by the game (which extends the playtime but not in a good way); it would be better if, for example, three or five could be looked for concurrently as in other hidden object games. As they are found the capybaras are coloured in, and finally the background also becomes coloured. According to the store page there should be achievements, but they do not appear at all in my installed copy of the full game. On the more positive side I thought that the capybara images had been interestingly customised, though the quality of the images on the screen makes some of them unnecessarily difficult to identify. I also thought that the background music was pleasant (if a little repetitive).
A nice chill game, although there were some capybaras that were close to impossible to see without using a hint.
I really wanted to like this game because I was looking for a "find the hidden animal" game with an animal other than the ubiquitous cats. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this game and I am asking for a refund. Some of the main points leading me to downvote this game are: * The capybaras are not "hidden", they are scattered across a detail lacking background drawing. * You are not allowed to click on any capybara you see. Instead, you are forced to find the one being prompted on the top corner of the screen. The developer imposes an arbitrary order in which the capybaras have to be found and removes all freedom from the player. Clicking on any capybara other than the prompted one will yield no game progress. This mechanic is annoying, frustrating and counter intuitive. * There is a single "audio" toggle, but no separate "music" toggle. The only way to stop the music is to also mute the sound effects. * The quality of the graphics is sub standard for this day and age. Zooming into the drawings immediately reveals incredibly pixelated capybaras, in some cases making them unrecognizable due to lack of detail. * Menus are poor and there is no visible way to reset the progress. On the good side: I see the developer is now offering a demo of the game. This is a excellent way to let players decide.
could be closer. some are really small. but its fun. multiple stages, same capys. so it gets easier.
Capybaras are my favourite animals, but this isnt a hidden animal game! It is a glorified BAD wheres waldo with pixelated capybara sprites for scattered loosely across a random background picture!
A cute hidden picture game that takes time to complete. I didn't even mind that I was finding the same 100 pictures over many puzzles. They are hand drawn. It is relaxing. If I had one complaint, it would be that some of the hidden pictures that need to be found, there is only a small slice of the picture that you can see. If you could go to the next picture and then come back to the ones that are mostly not there, it would make it nicer to be able to figure out what one has a tiny bit showing.
