Style Without Substance
Nonsensical events lead to even more nonsensical events. I loved the demo and really wanted to like this, but the writing and gameplay in the full release left me completely cold. It’s just boring and uninteresting. Life’s too short to be running around in some surreal representation of the developer’s psyche, collecting litter and trying to solve puzzles by having to explore every single nook and cranny of the maze-like environments. No thanks.
Best gaming experience featuring dead birds in years.
I had no idea what to expect, but this was way cooler, wittier, heavier, and LONGER than I ever expected. And also, INFINITELY more cinematic. It's quite rough in terms of visuals, audio, and clarity (by which I mean, the gameplay can be confusing sometimes) but you know what? That's just the mark of a true, genuine passion project. Its an intensely emotional journey and sort of an intriguing character study as well. This game has no business flying under the radar. Lets give it all the recognition it deserves.
Excellent hiking sim! Really captures the feeling of when you're being chased by the Appalachian Tree People in the woods. Also the Hat Man is There
Wild, inventive, and ambitious. A wonderfully unique experience and a must play for anyone who appreciates a well-told story.
Amazing game, atmospheric and inventive. Creative gold, with fantastic storytelling. The characters are complex and layered, often relatable, sometimes unlikeable. The brutal harshness of flawed humans sometimes juxtaposed with light-hearted humour gave my brain some good meat to take a bite out of. I definitely felt tense for a large chunk of this game, and the gameplay was good janky horror fun. I was not 100% clear on some of the story points, it did meander a bit and felt a little overly long, also the story was told non linearly, in a sometimes abstract fashion. But honestly the writing and the characters were still excellent though. A surreal and spooky art piece, damn was this an impressive and memorable game. Absolutely unique.
An incredibly interesting and unique game that keeps you on your toes with its thrills but also isn't afraid to be a bit goofy with it in between high octane moments- 10 Dead Doves is a remarkable game that really excels at trying something different with the horror genre whilst also hitting all those old, classic gaming moments with its gameplay and cinematography feeling like it was ripped straight out of Resident Evil and Silent Hill. The storyline, whilst confusing, is presented in a way that grips you from the very start and had me invested within the first few minutes and eager for more news paper clippings as a way to try and determine what the underlying plot hoped to achieve. I really appreciated how much effort was put into making the cast of characters you interact with feel like real people you might meet on the street with their own dreams and personal hang-ups leading to their actions, alongside the more... out there individuals leaving me with an awe and intrigue into learning more about them and what kind of world they lived in. The soundtrack was also phenomenal; really pulling you into the drama of it all and filling you just the right amount of suspense during the more scary moments whilst also not being too overwhelming in its nature; the more background-y type tracks being incredibly pleasant to listen to when exploring. Personally, I loved every second of this strange little game and would recommend it to anyone wanting to try something new that really encapsulates that old-ey game feel whilst still bringing something new to the table to digest. I can't wait to see what else the company creates from here on out !! :D
