Probably the first Early Access ripoff
More than 10 years later, still in early access... Don't buy it, it never got finished and probably never will be...
Ever wonder why this isn't on the store anymore? Because it was abandoned.
A long-abandoned game, the developers don't even fix the achievement.
Abandonware, disappointing since it had promise
Completely abandoned many years ago and finally de-listed from the store. While the developer lost interest and went on to publish many other games on Steam, this stand as one of those great warnings about the risks and pitfalls of Early Access. What I remain baffled by is, why does Steam allow them to create and sell more projects when they still have abandoned projects that were sold and never completed from more than twelve years earlier?!
developers have abandoned this game
You can still buy this? It was never finished.
The first time I came across Dejobaan Games was when I was looking for free games for a project I was involved in way back in 2007 when I found a demo copy of A Reckless Disregard for Gravity, which was in it's αlpha state at the time. I was fascinated with the demo as I'd never come across a game with a base jumping mechanic before; so much so I contacted the developers who let me into their testing team. I even got a level editor for the game after suggesting they include it with the game when it was finally released (released on Steam in 2009). They didn't include it in the end, but the finished product was excellent and at the time one of my favourite indie arcade games. I purchased all of their games and was suitably impressed with most of them including this game which has mostly negative reviews. Of course, it was never completed; I'm sure partly because the team were working on other projects, but maybe there were other issues that the community were never made aware off. Anyway, personally I love this game, as someone else mentions in this review section, no two levels are the same; so, playing the same level over and over, you get a different experience each time. I'd loved to have seen the game completed, but even in it's unfinished state it's still a superb game that has similarities to it's predecessor, but is also different. Sadly it's been removed from sale for quite some time at the request of the developer; possibly due to the massive number of negative results? I paid ten times what this cost (equivalent taking into account inflation) for a short text based adventure game called ''The Island of Artuan'' way back in the 80's and always use that as a bench mark when posting short reviews of games I love. 1... 2.... 3... Kick It! is outstanding compared to that old game, but, at the time I thought ''The Island of Artuan'' was better than sliced bread. I do hope Dejobaan Games will return to completing this game sometime in the future. It's one of those timeless games, so even ten years from now it would make a great arcade game; maybe even include V.R.
What is the principle to became an early access game? If I remember correctly, when I bought this game, there wasn't even green light system and it was full priced, finished game. Seriously, this Early Access concept is a cancer to gaming community that spread scams of the game devs, for the game devs and by the game devs.
