They did it, they really did it, they made YiiK fun. Oozing with wonderful style and great music this has become such a gripping RPG. The battle mechanics, while seemingly less fun initially have great depth and the battles are extremely fun to strategize around; not to mention I haven't seen something quite like this yet. The "revert to old battle system" gives promise if I wanna scratch that "Mario RPG" itch. Seriously cannot recommend this enough, play the demo to see if it's your cup of tea, it's so worth your time. Oh, and Alex is still an ass but now it's kind of charming in a way? Like he still has some groaners but they make me laugh at him as a character and not the game itself as a whole; which is an amazing step up from the original versions of YiiK.

I'm YIIKing out
If my boy Alex Yiikingstone doesn't make a massive comeback, I will personally lemonade the devs
Was a pretty alright game, within 5 hours i could tell it had heart. i really liked the part where alex grew ten times his size in belly weight :D
Despite some interesting art design choices, almost everything in this is just bad and it's a whole mess, but I'm so glad it exists.
One of those pieces of media that tries to be as complex as possible to convince you it's really deep and profound, when in reality it's just a nothingburger. Writer seems too preoccupied with trying to appear smart to remember that what the audience wants is ultimately to have fun. Smart games can be fun, and are usually made more fun by being meaningful as well. This is neither smart nor meaningful, and it's definitely not fun. It's also hardly an RPG. The majority of the game is cutscenes and dialogue, and yet there's no sense of timing or pacing. It's not well crafted. It looks ugly, which is impressive considering most of its aesthetic is borrowed from existing franchises like Persona. I don't know exactly what the full game holds, but if it's anything like these first two hours, I know it's not worth your time.
"BLEED FOR ME" Every five seconds in the new ♥♥♥♥♥♥ combat in the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥ voice acting, Alex talks to himself WAY too much and never says anything worthwhile, each combat is a slog for no reason and the new Karta system is boring, good job people. The devs clearly thing 'complex = good' and they've managed to do it completely wrong, I love hearing the same three voice lines every combat because you only do those things because it's literally the only options you have. The old system was genuinely better and that was some mario party ripoff that took too long. TLDR: It's a slog, the combat, the story and everything else takes so long without anything good or interesting happening.
