if you want to play this you need to spend A$ 173.00... which honestly is still better than Kiwami 3 Jokes aside RGG Free Yakuza 3!
I love you Kiryu Kazuma and Morning Glory
I feel very mixed about this game. I love the vibe, and the substories are a lot more fun compared to 1 & 2. I can really appreciate it as a 2009 game. The combat is alright, much worse but against regular enemies it's not much of a problem. However, boss fights are for the most part some of the most frustrating part of this game and the worst of the series. The story, which usually wins me over the most out of anything is really subpar. It feels like a proper video game story instead of the usual crime epic. It's a very disappointing story and the ending was a lot less pleasant than Yakuza 2. Unless the future entries prove me wrong, I think the best way to recommend Yakuza games are to play 0 through 2 and stop there unless you really want to play every game (probably, at least that's what I'm doing). What really makes this game shine is the character development and themes in the story. The plot itself being mediocre at best, this aspect is its saving grace. Kiryu is/has grown, and it's more evident now than ever since Yakuza 1. The orphanage and the way Kiryu handles it is sweet and a great part of the game, despite the feeling that the game doesn't know what it wants to be at times: a Yakuza style crime story or a slice of life exposition game. Rikiya and his story arc with Kiryu is in my opinion one of the best relationship of the Yakuza series so far.
