For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

X: Tension, developed and published by Egosoft, is a space simulation sandbox that significantly expands upon the framework established in its predecessor, X: Beyond the Frontier. Rather than functioning as a traditional sequel with a tightly scripted campaign, it acts as a large-scale evolution of the original concept, broadening the universe, increasing player freedom, and deepening economic and fleet management systems. The result is a title that prioritizes autonomy and systemic complexity over narrative guidance. At its core, X: Tension places players in a vast interconnected galaxy composed of dozens of sectors, each governed by dynamic economic rules and populated by diverse factions. Unlike story-driven space games that funnel players toward fixed objectives, this title encourages self-directed progression. You are free to pursue commerce, piracy, bounty hunting, or large-scale economic expansion. The galaxy operates in real time, with goods being produced, transported, and consumed regardless of player involvement. This creates an ecosystem where supply and demand fluctuate organically, rewarding attentive traders who study market trends and identify profitable routes. One of the most significant improvements over its predecessor is expanded ship accessibility. Players are no longer confined to a single vessel; instead, they can pilot a wide range of ships, from agile fighters to heavy transporters and freighters. Over time, this freedom extends into fleet management and station ownership. Establishing factories and production chains transforms the experience from simple trading into empire building. Constructing and defending your own industrial network adds strategic depth, as economic success must be balanced against threats from hostile factions and pirate activity. Combat remains an integral but optional component of the experience. Dogfights occur in open 3D space, requiring careful maneuvering and energy management. Hostile factions such as the Xenon present ongoing dangers, particularly in border sectors. However, unlike pure action space shooters, combat here serves as part of a broader sandbox system. You may choose to avoid conflict entirely and focus on commerce, or you may invest heavily in military hardware to dominate contested regions. The game rarely forces a singular approach. The interface and mechanics reflect the era of its release. Menus are dense and sometimes unintuitive, requiring patience to master. Yet beneath this complexity lies an intricate simulation system that rewards long-term investment. Learning how to manage automated traders, optimize supply chains, and monitor sector maps becomes part of the strategic appeal. The early hours can feel slow and methodical, but as wealth accumulates and fleets expand, the scale of operations grows dramatically. Visually, X: Tension is unmistakably a product of the early 2000s, with modest ship models and relatively simple environmental textures. However, the sense of scale remains impressive. Vast starfields, distant nebulae, and the quiet hum of space travel create a contemplative atmosphere. Long trade routes and jump gate transitions reinforce the feeling of traversing a living galaxy rather than isolated mission zones. The soundtrack complements this tone with ambient compositions that emphasize exploration and solitude. Narrative elements are minimal compared to the first game. While there is a loose framework connecting events in the X universe, the emphasis shifts strongly toward sandbox autonomy. Story moments exist primarily to provide context rather than dictate direction. This design philosophy makes the game particularly appealing to players who prefer emergent gameplay over scripted sequences. Ultimately, X: Tension stands as a foundational entry in the X series that helped define Egosoft’s long-running formula. Its expansive economy, player-driven progression, and open-ended structure laid the groundwork for future installments. Though dated in presentation and occasionally opaque in interface design, it remains a compelling sandbox for players who appreciate deep simulation systems and the freedom to shape their own path through a living galaxy. Rating: 7/10

Must have für jeden Fan!!!
A golden classic with a lot of freedom.
good
Yes its an oldie but a classic. Wish EGOSOFT would remake all of there old games as DLC's into there new X4 engine. The ships is already there. Just port over the story and voice files.
