Working Sakuya is an adult-oriented visual novel developed and published by ぬるぬる坊主 (Slimy Boy), offering a narrative experience that blends branching storytelling with animated presentation. Instead of emphasizing traditional gameplay systems, the title focuses on player choices, character interactions, and multiple endings. Built around the familiar Touhou-inspired character Sakuya, the game delivers a story shaped by the player's decisions while presenting its events through expressive visuals and animated sequences. It is a niche release designed for players who enjoy mature visual novels with interactive storytelling rather than action or puzzle-solving mechanics. The game's greatest strength lies in its choice-driven structure. Throughout the story, players are regularly presented with decisions that influence both character relationships and the direction of the narrative. These branching paths lead to different scenarios and endings, encouraging multiple playthroughs to uncover every possible outcome. Rather than functioning as a straightforward linear novel, Working Sakuya rewards curiosity by allowing players to explore alternative routes and witness how seemingly minor decisions can alter the course of events. Visually, the game stands out with polished anime artwork and animated scenes that provide a greater sense of movement than many visual novels in the same genre. Character expressions and interactions feel more engaging thanks to these animations, while the colorful illustrations remain consistent throughout the experience. The environments and interface are equally well-crafted, ensuring that reading through lengthy dialogue sequences remains comfortable and visually appealing. Although the game is built around mature themes, it also demonstrates attention to artistic quality instead of relying solely on explicit content. The narrative attempts to provide context and motivation for its characters rather than presenting disconnected scenes. Conversations gradually establish relationships, emotional conflicts, and the consequences of the player's choices. While the writing may not reach the complexity of larger story-focused visual novels, it succeeds in giving the branching routes enough substance to make replaying worthwhile. Players interested in seeing every variation of the story will likely appreciate the effort invested in creating multiple narrative outcomes. Audio presentation complements the overall experience with background music that supports both lighter conversations and more dramatic moments. The soundtrack does not dominate the experience but instead helps reinforce the atmosphere while allowing the dialogue and visuals to remain the primary focus. Combined with an intuitive interface and convenient text navigation, the game delivers a smooth reading experience from beginning to end. Despite these strengths, Working Sakuya offers limited gameplay outside of reading dialogue and selecting choices. Players expecting exploration, combat, puzzles, or strategic systems may find the experience lacking, as it remains firmly rooted in the conventions of visual novels. The title is designed for readers who enjoy following branching stories rather than those seeking mechanically demanding gameplay. Its replay value depends almost entirely on discovering alternate routes and endings instead of unlocking new gameplay features. The mature themes are central to the game's identity and define its intended audience. Anyone considering the game should expect an experience focused on adult storytelling supported by animated visuals and interactive decision-making. Those already familiar with this style of visual novel will likely appreciate its polished presentation and replayability, while players searching for a broader adventure or traditional romance story may find its specialized focus limiting. Overall, Working Sakuya successfully delivers the experience it sets out to provide. Its attractive artwork, animated scenes, branching narrative, and multiple endings create an engaging visual novel for fans of adult interactive fiction. Although its gameplay remains intentionally simple and its appeal is limited to a specific audience, the production quality and emphasis on player choice help it stand above many comparable titles within its niche. Rating: 8/10
