Wingsuit: Romsdalen

I know not everyone agrees, but for me personally, it's the best of the wingsuit type experiences in VR. You guys can keep your Rush VR (and I love Binary Mills as a developer), I'll take the Mount Wingsuit series. It's the hardcore experience for PCVR veterans. I know the visuals aren't the best as well. I get it. I wish we could get an improvement on the visual front for the series. However, the gameplay is where the game is unmatched IMO. If you loved earlier entries in series, then I think you'll also enjoy this one. The controls are spot on for me. The sense of speed. The sense of danger. Game is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 5090, I was getting a steady 90 fps once I lowered graphics from the max. Honestly, I didn't notice a difference other than performance was better. I am surprised with the price increase. I don't know how other people will feel about that. PCVR is in a rough spot right now, so I understand pricing from both sides. Given the higher price point though, I do have to be more critical of the game. I think better visuals would have justified the price increase ... [b]Rate 6.5/10. I was definitely looking forward to this game when it first released as I had thoroughly enjoyed the first 2 Mount Wingsuit games. But the initial pricing caught me off guard and I let the dev know that I honestly thought it was too much for the one new location. It was an honest mistake on his part with the pricing but due to Steam rules, he wasn't able to adjust the price until 1 month had passed. Well, now he has lowered the price and also has made a bundle deal including the 2 MW games. So now I'm happy to say that his new Romsdalen game is 100% worth it, because even though it's using the same engine and similar objectives as his previous games, the new location makes it feel fresh and exciting. If you start high enough, there are some really long runs you can pull off by staying as close as possible to the sides of mountains and seeing the points piling up for doing so. This game has 11 exit points to start from with lots of objectives to complete in each one, and some of them will have you trying to complete them over and over until you finally nail them. It's a very immersive base-jumping game with a great sense of speed when flying close to mountains or over tree tops, and now with the lower price I highly recommend it.

This is the forth installment of the Mount Wingsuit series and it stays true to the values that made the series enjoyable. I played in VR using the Valve Index and visually it is greatly improved compared to the previous VR installments. However this also increases the hardware requirements and while the default settings worked great, tuning the graphics settings soon showed the limits of my system. Nevertheless the game is a lot of fun and offers everything that was good in the previous titles. While the graphics provides more details regarding the mountains and most notably the trees, the area seems much smaller and each run is much shorter compared to the previous VR versions.
