I really wanted to like this game, and I think the premise and mechanics are really cool, but there's simply too much about Will Die Alone that bothered me. First, just to get it out of the way, the writing. There are a lot of grammatical mistakes, but also problems with tone, especially when it came to the news articles. The prose read as unprofessional at times, and that made it hard to feel immersed in the world of the game. The presence of an editor, alone, would have helped this game out a whole lot. The storylines of the clients you get are interesting and I think the memory-erasing mechanics, and how you see the consequences of your decisions, are well done. Still, the main problem I have is that the messaging of the story falls flat: [spoiler] I think I could've looked past the clunky writing if the story felt satisfying, but the truth is, the social commentary of this game is shallow. There is evidence that Dewitt Corp is harming people in many ways, but the game really doesn't get to the heart of why the company's services are bad. Spreading misinformation and killing off reporters/whistle blowers is one thing, but the game doesn't actually dive into the risks of the memory-erasing service itself as much as it could have. (Despite it being the centerpiece of the game.) [spoiler] [spoiler] Not to mention, the only way you can successfully take down Dewitt is by intentionally ruining your clients' lives. That might have been an attempt at commentary, but if it was, I didn't see it. Especially since you can easily make people's lives better (or even save lives, in some cases) by erasing the right memories, leaving something to be said about whether or not the kind of service offered by the game can be morally good in a vacuum. That, however, doesn't seem to be acknowledged by the story. The writing seems to steer the player into believing that this kind of technology and care is always inherently bad, inhumane, and malicious, despite any evidence to the contrary. I mean, you can literally prevent a guy from overdosing through this service. If you want to argue that I shouldn't do that, you need to give me a much more nuanced argument than "corporation bad", and "your memories make you who you are". This game presents you a trolley problem, except the people on the other side of the train tracks were never real in the first place.[spoiler] There's a lot at play here, free will, consent, healthcare, capitalism, etc. All things that Will Die Alone only scratch at the very surface of, if at all. If this game were to get a remaster or a revision, I'd be interested. For now, though, no dice.

The story in this game is incredibly original and immersive, with excellent narration. The choices you'll have to make are captivating and will really challenge your mind.
A small interactive narrative with a intriguing, delicate, and deep puzzle mechanics. A beautiful theme, and I also really liked the coherence of the essential UI and the hand drawings. Hope not to spoil too much, but the mechanics that turns against the player in the end is a brilliant touch. A little known jewel!

Get it while on sale. A little replayability, writing is generally good, but it doesn't last very long. If I had realised you weren't able to complete the bonus scenario in a "happy" way I would have halved my playtime.
Interesting concept that doesn't really live up to its potential. Echoing what others said, the writing has a lot of run-on sentences, and it's hard to know which memory to delete or not. The story has interesting ideas, but they don't really go anywhere, and the "good" (secret) ending is painfully simple too - [spoiler]everyone realizes deleting memories is bad and the evil company gets shut down[/spoiler]. It's the basis of a good game but there just isn't [i]enough[/i] there. Still, it's not a bad way to spend an hour. I think you could get a similar experience watching a playthrough. ずーっと気にはなってたんですが、他に抱えているゲームがたくさんあったため、セールになるまで待ってから買いました。 ゲームのボリュームは想像していたほど大きく無かったので、すぐにエンディングを迎えました。英語も、辞書を引かずになんとなく雰囲気で理解できるレベル。 マルチエンディングっぽいので、全部を見るためには最低6回は遊ばないといけないのかな? とはいえ、前述のとおりボリュームは無いので、それほど時間はかからないと思います。 (追記)エンディングは、成功、失敗、シークレットとFIRST CLIENTの4個っぽい ゲーム内容自体は……セール時の値段が相応かな。英語がちゃんと理解できていないという事もあるとは思いますが、ちょっとした驚きはあったものの、感動とかそういうものは特になかったです。ショートショートを1編読むぐらいの感じで、気軽にプレイするのが良いと思います。(他人の記憶を消すという内容なので、気軽に、というのもへんですが)
