EDIT: I've updated this review since the developer took the time to reach out to me and ask that I change it from a negative 'malicious' one to a more positive. I changed a little of the wording and emphasised on how I got more frustrated because I forgot about a key item. However, their attitude when I told them I would not change it from a negative got belligerent, and then they left my Discord server preventing me from further contact. So be warned. I played this live on stream, and I gotta say...some games are really built well and clever with the puzzles and how they present them. This game, however, isn't one of those games. At least not entirely. It employed a LOT of Moon Logic, and while it did warn that you'd need a pen and paper and be ready to look things up, it also really didn't do a good job of leading the player with breadcrumbs towards certain solutions. Or even the MEANS to find those solutions. This game was literally crafted like a real life escape room, where it's exceedingly difficult, and (since I was streaming it) needs the help of several others to get through. This is not built like a group game, however, and with that limitation I judge it based on that fact. Could a single person get through this? Maybe, but not likely. I mean, it wasn't 100% frustrating...there were some very clever and intuitive puzzles, but for the most part? It was just annoying and aggravating, without a feeling of 'yes I did it!' And one MAJOR frustration on my part was because I forgot about a key item that was still in my inventory (before picking it up, items were completely removed as you move from one section to the next, so I didn't think to look for it). So I'll accept that as 100% my fault. Another brilliant thing they did was add accessibility options for deaf and colorblind players. Whatever my thoughts on the game, this is an amazing and welcome addition. My final judgement? Pass, unless you are a HUGE fan of puzzles, even obtuse ones, and can get it on sale. Even though the developer reached out to me to remove this review, I still wish them the best, and that they learn from this experience.
I love Escape Room puzzle games in person and having one on the computer to play is a lot of fun! I find the puzzles to be challenging and thought provoking. The creator was extremely creative while designing the puzzles. I needed to look a few things up online to be able to solve some of the puzzles as well as needing to write and draw things out on paper. The game has built in hints when you get stuck and I took advantage of that when I needed to. Since this is a one time playing game I will keep an eye out to see if the creator makes any more puzzle games in the future.
Clever! When you've lost your horse, be careful whose house you enter. Have a pen and paper ready. You're gonna need it. I'd very much like to see more from this Eric Donaldson fellow.
I like the puzzles because they are very challenging. But I dislike them because they are so challenging. LOL
Super fun, pretty difficult. If you're a fan of long winded puzzle adventures (like me) it was very enjoyable. Don't ignore the fact that you need paper and the ability to look some things up because that was a very helpful warning. That being said it also takes some strong will and patience
