WellTown is a free VR experience. It worked on my system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. It has 360 videos and game instances that you can experience about Wellington, New Zealand. One 360 video (Xero) didn't work but the rest looked good. Try it, if you like to travel.

WellTown is a Unreal Engine based VR tour of Wellington, New Zealand that puts you in a handful of different local spots in the famous New Zealand city of Wellywood, host city of the WETA Workshop (Lord of the Rings etc). You can see a few local scenes do a little flyover. The quality here is pretty bad, borderline terrible, so I guess now we know what the people who didn't get hired for WETA Workshop are doing with their spare time. It's not a game, there's no gameplay loops. You'd get a better experience watching Youtube travelog videos than "playing" this. I can't recommend anyone waste the time or bandwidth to download this.
Our charmingly flamboyant host takes us on a city and nature tour where we earn parts of a fabulous makeover. Absolutely awesome that it is LGBT positive and there’s a ton to see and do after your makeover. Click the pouring tea to explore more. I unfortunately couldn’t do everything as it is roomscale, but I truly enjoyed what I could do. Maybe they could add in teleportation? Also, after the initial avatar selection my Rift controls no longer selected anything except the exit for each scene. Not sure if that was intentional or not.

I literally cant say anything good about this horrific experience. It makes no sense, is obviously just bought off the asset store irrelevant games with no purpose and doesn't teach you anything about the town at all. Its free and i still feel ripped off. Run people. RUN away for this hideous thing.
what a great app! more places should do these, it really is agreat advert and interesting at the same time!
Very cool semi interactive experience about a real life town. The experence consists in a bunch of short experiences in a virtual environment mixed in with some clearly real life video, and a bunch of 360 videos that talk about the town and points of interest. The Virtual semi interactive scenes are really beautiful specially the one on/under the sea and the one in the woods. This has to be the best VR turism thing ive seen. The experience is short, id say ~1hr if you watch every video in full. The only issues would be the heavy sized download ~15gb and that the heavy size didnt help in the real 360 resolution videos, they looked blurry. Anyways, the app is Free, id totally recommend this to someone that wants some gorgeous vistas and non threatening and simple tourism experience.
The flamboyant host made me laugh at the beginning, after watching most of the 360 videos I really want to visit or even emigrate to New Zealand, it looks like such a beautiful country. I was also being left to feel I was younger, and a student with the option to go to their university. I didn't seem to find the interactive bits, other than flicking around over the city, which was okay but smooth motion to 'fly' would have been nicer, also there was no option to rotate on the spot, in my reduced play space this is needed. Also the Xero video was just a black space with a dot on my eyeline, must be bugged but the other videos I enjoyed, they would have been even better at a higher resolution. So overall this made me smile which is a big plus, it's free and not too long. May be I will try it again to see if I can find the parts I missed as I did find it enjoyable just to 'feel' I was in NZ. Also, it's a vr app with an exit button!!! (unfortunately I still had to end the task in task manager afterwards, but it's a step in the right direction haha)
