"Mixed" is a fair statement. The game on a sale price feels fair. The story isn't worth remembering - or caring much about as you go through it. The overworld feels bland and it's only perceivable purpose is to spread mid-late game crafting resources around a map. Dungeons can be accessed from their native entrance, or from the city hub. It's a repetitive grind, the pattern will make itself known pretty quick. (It's a blend of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning style combat paired with the ever repetitive Destiny dungeon loop) The end game consists of short hunts or expeditions, hunting for necessary crafting materials to upgrade your character and item(s) to your liking. The characters themselves do have some build variety, and there seems to be a very small but kind community that enjoy coming up with different playstyles and builds for the characters. You are free to switch out your character at any time and continue the story/mission as if nothing changed. While it feels strange, it works. There is a bit of character min-maxing that can be done - and again, some will be drawn to that. But the combat and enemies are pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Once you max a single character, it becomes very easy to max out a second and/or third. Exponentially easier, in fact. At a certain point the game just becomes a 'how busted can I make this character using X weapon and focusing on X, Y, Z stats?' While not a great game (feels bland, a bit hollow), it's worth a sale price. I'll grab the remaining achievements and probably sunset this game in my library, but I did have some good times - even if they were short lived.

This game got me back to PC games after a long drought. Got it for 1.5 bucks, insane value for its worth. Feels like if code vein, fortnite, and deep rock galactic had a baby. Great turnaround of the game since early access where all the negative reviews came from. Wish the ratings could show its current state because I'd reckon this to be a very positive to overwhelmingly positive game.
Yet again, this is a great example of a game that i would put as "Mixed". While yes, i really like the game overall, i could not shake the feeling that the devs at Airship had the most vitriolic hatred towards melee weapons, and collectively decided to make the entire lategame rely on AREA DENIAL SPAMMING. Which is a shame, because up until the Archon Commander, it doesn't feel that bad.
great game. world building is done very well and i loved the storyline. you can really feel the pain and tragedy in their world through quests and interactions. characters are unique and all have interesting lore (Senja, my love). really unfortunate we won't be getting any follow up on the story, feels like they wanted to expand more but were unable to. Bought the game on sale and highly recommend. there's plenty of content to justify a full price purchase, even more so if on sale. Try it!
Game deserves more attention especially for how cheap it goes on sale for (usually $3.50). It's very enjoyable to play with friends, get loot, do dungeons - all that. I think it gets a bad rep based on what people had expected the game to be, rather than the well made product it is. If you've been looking at it and wondering if it would be fun, buy it on sale and try it out.
