This is a really cool concept that I really want to work well, and I hope that it someday will work well, but FOR ME that day is not today. There is no native ERG or virtual shifting support, so in my circumstance using a KICKR core with the Zwift cog, it's basically impossible to use, and routing shifting through my phone is just a pain. I tried to do the first campaign mission and while it was fun, it was impossible to get the wattage output necessary to play the game (and to do a workout) when unable to shift virtually. I have every faith that both of these complaints will be remedied in the future, and greatly look forward to the day that I can further gamify my workouts beyond what Zwift can offer. Due to my complaints being mostly self-inflicted due to my setup, I will give a positive review with the caveat that I would give a mixed review if possible.
Definitely makes your workouts more fun. Tech wise there are still some challenges, for example, no erg mode, OR direct support for virtual gears -> if you want 'full' experience, you need to have a cassette in your trainer and ability to change gears. You can use virtual gears as well, but it requires using some other (many free options) workout app to control the resistance of the trainer (for example, I run Jet Black Victory app on the phone in parallel, and start a simulation mode workout there -> I can then set the virtual gear in the phone app to be able to get proper resistance in game as well. Excited to see all the new features still coming to the game.
Mission 1 complete. Really fun. This game is just so different than all the other cycling apps. I see some huge potential tial with further development.
The idea is super cool but doesnt work on steam deck
Good change of pace from Zwift. Virtual shifting would be a huge improvements here.
(Select "read more" for the recent review update) Zwift: Ride with sound effects for a fee MyWhoosh: Ride in silence for free WattGames: Flee from dinosaurs, escape the talons of giant birds, and charge a lighthouse !! You tell me which game is most fun !! LOL WattGames is the best !! I have never been so encouraged to match an RPM or maintain a power level on my indoor cycle!! Indoor cycle experience: My bike has an electronically controlled tension range of 1 - 24. WattGames reached 13 ascending hills, 5 descending hills, and 9 on level ground. Early Access: The graphics require more optimisations. However, the environment is magnificent. I found the best settings are potato with no cinematic effects and unlimited frame rate. These settings cause a substantial fluctuation in frame rate, while reducing strutter equally so. My system: i5 12th gen - 32GB DDR5 - Nvidia 5060 Ti 8GB Monitor used for my indoor cycle: 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz About optimization: All systems will experience various challenges with less optimized games. So a more or less powerful system won't change much. As WattGames receives more optimizations, everyone will notice improvements. Conclusion: This game is amazing!! I am now excited to cycle and will use this everyday!! Thank you TripleScience Software!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Update: I have 2 GFX cards: GTX 1650 4GB (Bus powered) and a RTX 5060 TI 8GB (Cable powered). I loaded WattGames while watching Task Manager, I noticed the GTX 1650 workload increased while the RTX 5060 TI remained idle. So, I moved the monitor's HDMI cable from the GTX 1650 to the mainboard's iGPU HDMI socket. Results: The RTX 5060 TI increased to 90% during with WattGames running. Settings: Full GFX Quality / Cinematic effects on / Unlimited FPS / V-sync on Speculated Cause: Wattgames or the Nvidia driver chose the GFX card to which the selected monitor was connected. While the GTX 1650 has plenty of power, it has 4GB of V-RAM. So the Game struggled to manage assets, textures, et cetera with half the recommended V-RAM. Hence, potato mode was required. Personal thoughts: This is a rare situation. I don't know how drivers and games manage multiple GFX cards with multiple monitors. Some games have a manual monitor and/or GFX card selection option in their configuration options. Either method would be fine: favoring the more powerful GFX card or an in-game selection option.
Just tried this for the first time. Got eaten by the Dino and I'm exhausted. Looking forward to tomorrow...... Devs if you see this I'm using Yesoul bike and n Asus Rog Ally X. Only got 20-23 fps at 1080p when graphic performance should be higher on this machine. Also couldnt figure out how to use my apple watch as a heart rate monitor. Anyway Im in i love this idea and happy to support the project.
InRide for my Kurt Kinetic doesn't work with this game. So I just wasted $25. Hope there's support for this in the future.
Mal eine super gelungene Abwechslung zu den Platzhirschen und man merkt das dran gearbeitet wird.
I have been genuinely impressed by the creativity behind this game. Every obstacle feels thrilling, exciting and engaging. The game set up was smooth and the overall concept is incredibly fresh compared to other indoor cycling games out there. I found it so much fun and enjoy my workouts with it. I can’t wait to play the new levels once they are released but for now I will make the most of the early access. Highly recommend and this is definitely worth it!!!
