Winter Assault - повноцінне розширення для оригінального Dawn of War.
Imperial Guard forever.

Mediocre. I like what they were trying to do but it feels like cheap demos for each new faction. You have to juggle 2 armies in an extremely linear campaign. Really sucks compared to the original. I would've been bummed out if I paid for this expansion.
eine sehr gute erste erweiterung
Winter Assaul is pretty basic: short campaigns; straightforward levels with obvious ways of completion and repeating objectives; story that's being told through a dozen of dialogies/monologues of main characters, all of which probably take no more than five minutes in total. It would be mediocre if not for the novelty of Imperial Guard with its undisputable badassness of simple, unenhanced humans fighting against overwhelming odds of multiple, superior enemies using nothing more than couple sticks, a rock and a Baneblade - all of which are under the direct command of a player, and being able to play around with what the Guard offers, to see all those familiar models come to life and fight in real time really has a smile on my face. The storytelling also has been done very well, showing both desperation experienced by simple human fighters, and the stoicism required of them. Indomitable human spirit, coupled with unique epicness of Warhammer as well as winter aesthetics, makes the experience at least interesting if not enjoyable. But that's only reagarding the "Order" campaign and the Imperials themselves. The game offers to play from the perspective of other forces involved in conflict, suggesting few novelties: you'll do all the same stuff in almost the same surroundings, just with different units, and new dialogues, of which there isn't many at all. It very much feels like a chore to yet again lead your forces from point A to point B with next to none strategy required, repeating that for 5-10 hours. The different perspective just doesn't contain much story to be a comparable reward for the time spent on boring levels. Summing everything up, I say that the Imperial part of the game is worth playing through for the sake of Guard's coolness while everything that remains should be played through only if you really enjoyed the gameplay and want more of it in quite the same way.
