not my type but best game in this category.
"It gets good after the beginning grind" is a terrible defense for a game. How many hours of mind-numbing grinding am I expected to endure just to reach the interesting part of the story? Ever since the death of Destiny 2, I’ve been looking for a something similar... and while I initially hoped this would fill that void, it definitely isn't it. Don't get me wrong, the movement is smooth and the combat feels fluid. But despite that mechanical polish, the actual gameplay loop feels dull and uninspiring. Obviously, the non-existent price tag goes a long way in hooking players and getting them through the door, but honestly, I'd rather spend it playing something else. 4/10

This game scratches every part of my brain
Warframe is a great example of what happens when you are given a power fantasy without an actual claim to the power. It offers all the trappings of the indulgent form of gaming, where the systems are there to ensure the player has to engage as little as possible with the gameplay itself. The game happens in two very distinct states, the first of which is the one where you are met with a wall of numbers greater than the ones you possess, and the second in which your numbers surpass the wall. The issue arises when there is no real power to be gained. It is all illusionary, as the solution is always to stay in the second phase of play, up until you are granted the resources necessary to up your numbers enough to turn your character into a whirlwind of destruction - thus granting you access to the second part. You are not assumed to learn the character or weapons, but the game expects you to instead learn how to make the character grow in statistical power. You do not have to engage with the systems of combat - which are plenty and are in fact quite interesting - as you are either killing things faster than you can blink, or are so overwhelmed with their statistical advantage that no amount of prowess piloting the character can give you great enough edge to overcome the stacked odds. I picked the game up again because I thought the Valkyrie and a few other characters looked interesting. Turns out, it does not matter much which vignette you choose as your avatar, as the skills and weapons are mostly an aesthetic choice and not a gameplay one. Your job as the player is to find the rotation of button presses that kills the enemies the fastest, after which you grind for the necessary resources that enable the button presses in the first place. It is sad to see the myriad of different builds the game enables you to create, when all of them boil down to the screen being filled with an explosion of gore. In that sense, the game is more akin to something like a bullet heaven with a few extra steps, than the character action game skin it wears on its bones. It is all flair and no substance. The power part of the fantasy is then relegated to an invisible overlord, whose job it is to gradually drip feed the player progress, after they have spent enough time making things explode into tiny chunks of meat. Except even this amount of engagement is not true for the most part. The overlord actively pushes the player to disengage from the core combat systems, with the treadmill rewarding those who can do the most iterations on a mission, in the least amount of time. To be granted power, you must then learn how to glide through levels as fast as possible, in order to get to the chest of loot at the end. This skipping of the gameplay is repeated enough times, until the overlord graciously gifts the player with the next increment of the fantasy. The player did not necessarily learn anything about the game, other than the fact that progression means engaging as little as possible with anything outside the meta-systems governing the power scales. Imagine fighting against someone in full plate armour. Now, you’d assume to overcome this foe, you’d have to learn footwork and likely how to grapple to pin them down for the coup de grâce. Perhaps you’d need to learn how to half-sword or at least know where the gaps in the armour are to then sink your dagger into. Well, if it was up to the previously mentioned overlord governing your power levels, you’d instead resolve the gap in fighting proficiency by going out to the countryside and by beating up peasants to the death. After piling enough corpses onto the fields, the god from the machine would descend to grant you an assault rifle to shoot the knight dead with. You gained nothing more than a razed village and a magical gimmick that can shoot bullets with enough velocity to pierce armour. The whole exercise was meaningless and utterly devoid of any true power. It was but a juvenile fantasy with arbitrary rules set to help jerk off the ego of the person drooling over their own greatness. In the same vein, playing Warframe is like playing with dolls to keep your ego sated with constant self-aggrandizement, without ever having to face any real work to warrant such validation. Whatever power you assume to claim is not yours but a manifestation of a mind too entrenched in fantasy to mistake holding a sword for knowing how to wield it.
I came from destiny 2 and this game has been nothing but fun and I probably should have listened when everyone that I knew was telling me to play Warframe and now that I started it I have had nothing but fun.
i held off reviewing till i had a few hours in the game. it's pretty good.
E, contra todas as expectativas, funciona. No começo, você tenta sobreviver.
