About
Wands Alliances is a competitive multiplayer shooter game of intense magic duels and combat. Play in teams of 3v3 and master the tactical aspects of teleportation and spell customization to become the most powerful Wielder of them all.
Select your class, choose your spells, and take the fight to the streets. Taste sweet victory by completing your team’s objectives or eliminating the opposing team.
In the streets and alleyways of Victorian London, magic and mayhem await. A mysterious magical substance powers civilization, and fuels the fight between good and evil. Six wielders endowed with skills and mastery of wand combat take sides and battle to the death in a contest of speed and strategy. Take up your wands, join your allies, and destroy your enemies.
Wands Alliances is the spiritual successor to the original VR magic dueling experience, Wands. In Alliances, two teams of three choose their characters and customize their battle kits to challenge other wielders in wand to wand combat. Tactical teleportation to traverse the levels and dynamic movement make this a VR experience that will challenge seasoned duelists, and unlock the hidden talents of the wizard within.
Magical mayhem awaits!
Experienced on the Meta Quest 2
You can view my initial impressions review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/m4x_kR7FEMo At its core, Wands Alliances is a very good, strategic, & fun 3v3 online multiplayer magic-focused game. However, on launch day on Steam, I was mostly going against bots, even though this game is cross-play and has been out on the Meta Quest 2 since June 30, 2022. For this reason, I can only give Wands Alliances a neutral recommendation. Perhaps more people will show up over the weekend though & it is definitely possible the population grows over time ... but it's also very difficult to stop a downward trend in gaming population. Wands Alliances is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting a steady 90 fps. I did not experience any serious issues or bugs, I think. However, I did come across the game constantly going black and asking me about my roomscale setup. It was very annoying. I had to either stand up or sit down to stop the frequent black screens. I'm not sure it was a bug, but it definitely seemed like it might be. Game has room-scale movement & nodal teleportation. You have 3 character classes that are damage, support, & healer. The 3 classes feel very different and do bring strategy to the gameplay. You unlock spells with the experience you get by playing the game. You can use up to 4 spells for each loadout, so 12 total spells for the team. Choosing the best synergies & strategies between them is most of the fun here. You also have to get very good at ducking and moving around in your room-scale. You could technically play this game seated, but I wouldn't recommend. You definitely need a good room-scale setup to excel in the multiplayer action. You do have smooth or snap turning available. Game automatically adjusts to your height. There were no graphical settings available. I played only 1.5 hours. In that time, I only experienced 2 different game modes: deathmatch or objective (sabotage). I only saw three different maps as well. I'm not sure if there was more than that. There were many spells to unlock though, along with 3 additional variations of the classes: damage, support, or healer. Wands Alliances is a paid VR Co-op PvP game. It worked on my HTC Vive system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok, was understandable. Sort of a steampunk with magic kind of world. You need to play this standing so you can dodge attack by moving behind cover using room scale movement. VR movement is choice of turning with teleporting to fixed points on the map. You can play a match solo using Ai bots of different difficulty. Has a campaign mode. CONS: Index does not have some controller buttons set, didn't see my grip. Maybe buy this, if you like Co-Op PvP games. I got a free key for this from the Steam Curator program. ViVE VR curator group
Amazing!
Bought it to try it for the initial 2 hours and I'm keeping it. You are a mage with 2 wands, each wand can have 2 spells. You have an initial list of spells to select in your suitcase and configure the wands with those to play. To move in the levels you teleport to specific lamps that light some spots to charge your wands, you can phisically move under the lantern but no more and you can cover or move in any way when shooting using your preloaded spells in the wands. The shots can be direct damage to special powers like making an area damage into any players under a lamp, to big bombs of damage that travels slowly. Some players can launch a spell that heals allies, hide them and other crazy varieties that you need to unlock gradually as they are more complex. The gameplay was very fun and simple but there is deep tactic hidden in the spells combinations so as you progress the game evolves gradually better and better with more variants per teams or objetives. I had a lot of fun so far. I do not usually play multiplayer games so I do not care if I found players or bots anyway. I found some players but I prefer to play single player so far to practice and build a better loadout strategy with the spells. The AI is a nice challenge so far, so mixed players/AI or full AI are not problem to play for me

i was hoping for a more "harry potter" fight but it was just a normal "gun" fight. and the movement is very restrictive too, not all part of the map is walkable, we only can fight and teleport to certain places. i'm refunding this game
great mix of tactics and skill, recommend!
Best pvp game on vr . The game is very competitive and hopefully in the near future we will have tournaments. Cross platform with quest2 /pico it reminds me of dota and cs together . Its has dmg/healers/ tanks each one different abilities and passive ability I play this game on quest 2 as well I only play this game now . Its tactical/ team play and skill . On quest 2 i played like 1400 matches the community is awesome . Until you go to lvl 9 you will play mostly with bots . At lvl 9-20 you play with people as that range of lvl . After 20 is where the fun begins 20lvl to 200lvl players.
HARRY POTTER SND
Super fun VR game. Apart from a bit rough onboarding with all the spells and movement that you need to learn it really is a heck of a game. You get the hang of the basic pretty quick and after that the variety of spells just adds to the fun. Hope this game takes off, it deserves it.
