Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.43/day in the week to Sep 10 → 1.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
As a sushi chef apprentice, you'll make sushi, train it , and compete in races. Win races, use the prize money to make even faster sushi and train harder, aiming for victory in the ultimate “S1” Cup!
No matter how painstakingly crafted the sushi may be, once eaten, it's an instant defeat. It heads straight for the customer's stomach and never comes back.
Each sushi topping has different performance characteristics. How well you've mastered making that particular topping also affects its performance. Use training to perfect your ideal sushi. However, since sushi is a perishable item, its performance degrades after each race.
During the race, all you can do is “cheer on” the sushi to boost it. You can escape chopsticks by using boost, but the sushi race isn't that easy—you won't win just by doing that. Sometimes you'll need to take risks and use boost to overtake rivals.
Some sushi toppings possess unique skills. For example, Flounder can dive to dodge chopsticks in an emergency without using boost, while Sea Urchin can use its spines to knock rivals away. There are over 40 different skills, some of which can be learned through training.

Wabisabi SushiDerby is developed by ITAMAE STUDIO and published by Kodansha. Few indie games are willing to embrace such an unconventional idea as wholeheartedly as this one. Set in a whimsical world where sushi are bred, trained, and entered into high-stakes races, the game immediately captures attention with its unique premise. What initially appears to be a simple novelty gradually reveals itself as a thoughtful combination of management simulation, creature raising, and arcade racing. By placing players in the role of an aspiring sushi artisan seeking victory in the prestigious S1 Cup, the game establishes a surprisingly compelling motivation that carries the experience from beginning to end. The heart of the game lies in preparing and nurturing your sushi racers. Players experiment with a variety of ingredients and toppings, each affecting important attributes such as acceleration, endurance, and special talents. Mastering ingredients becomes an important part of progression, encouraging experimentation instead of relying on a single strategy. There is a satisfying sense of ownership over every competitor you create, especially when a carefully trained sushi begins consistently outperforming rivals. The management aspects are straightforward enough for newcomers while offering enough combinations to keep players engaged throughout multiple play sessions. Races themselves are chaotic and entertaining. The biggest twist comes from the ever-present threat of hungry customers, who can instantly consume an unlucky contestant mid-race. This mechanic injects tension into every event and reinforces the game's absurd sense of humor. Boost management and skill timing become critical, as players must decide whether to conserve resources or take risks to gain an advantage. Tracks remain unpredictable thanks to hazards, rival interference, and the wide range of abilities available to different sushi types. The result is a gameplay loop that rewards both preparation and quick decision-making. Another standout feature is the diversity of available skills and playstyles. With dozens of unique abilities tied to ingredients and training, each sushi feels distinct. Some excel at avoiding danger, while others are built around disrupting opponents or maintaining momentum over longer distances. This variety gives players plenty of opportunities to experiment and discover combinations that suit their preferred approach. Combined with the game's colorful pixel art and expressive animations, every race becomes an amusing spectacle that never takes itself too seriously. Visually, Wabisabi SushiDerby embraces a charming retro-inspired presentation. The pixel artwork is vibrant and full of personality, successfully bringing its bizarre world to life. Character designs are memorable, and the exaggerated reactions during races add to the overall appeal. The accompanying soundtrack complements the relaxed and playful atmosphere, ensuring that even repetitive tasks remain enjoyable. It is clear that considerable care was put into creating a cohesive aesthetic that matches the game's lighthearted identity. The game has also earned notable recognition through appearances at several independent gaming events and showcases, a testament to its originality and craftsmanship. Despite its strengths, it does have a few shortcomings. Players looking for a highly competitive or multiplayer-focused experience may find the offering somewhat limited, and extended grinding sessions can occasionally make the progression feel repetitive. Nevertheless, these issues are relatively minor when weighed against the game's creativity and charm. Ultimately, Wabisabi SushiDerby succeeds because it fully commits to its unusual concept. It transforms the idea of racing sushi into an entertaining and surprisingly strategic adventure that stands apart from nearly everything else available on Steam. Its blend of management mechanics, accessible gameplay, and unmistakable personality makes it an easy recommendation for players seeking something fresh and memorable. Rating: 8/10
Cute little pet raiser/racer. A lot of charm in an admittedly short game. I think it handless the concepts of the game (namely the management and risk assessment of racing and unlocking different types of sushi versus your consistently teetering funds to purchase and train said sushi). For five dollars, it was a great way to spend an afternoon.
