First off, I'm confused. There are three games titled "Voidwalker" from this developer, all with different subtitles and wildly different styles. While this one is set in medieval times, the other two seem to be in a sci-fi setting with one of them being a TPS and the other some kind of top-down shooter. It's generally not a great idea to have something like a franchise title for absolutely different games because it leads to confusion. But this review is for "Voidwalkers - Soul Hunters", a top-down hack & slash set in a medieval fantasy setting. It already starts on a low note as the menu interface is an absolutely wild mixture of hard to read fonts, tooltips that are far too big for the screen, lots of information presented in the worst way possible and game settings that look like everything's covered until you discover that there's no audio slider and the graphics controls don't seem to do anything. Fantastic. There's plenty of choice what class to play in which mode but in all honesty I had enough after my first attempt at playing a warrior in the campaign. Warrior's always the obvious choice for me; there's hardly a way to mess that class up so badly it becomes unplayable. So you set off into the first campaign level, but before you start you are given a "starting gift". Unfortunately due to the lack of information on the oversized, hard to read tooltips it's a little hard to decide. I just went for the first one and didn't notice a hint of a difference. You're dropped into the first map without further ado and quite literally - your character spawns in the air and drops down. Okay then. Controls are the usual with the left mouse button for swinging your sword. Once you do that, you can't cancel the attack - fine by me, but feels a little off. The first enemies come into sight and it's a little problematic to keep them in front of you. The character controls feel floaty and unresponsive. A little bit further I attack two persons. I almost didn't notice I am able to talk to one of them - this will pose problems soon enough. I still have a chat with the guy before I strike him and his buddy down. The lighting in the map is absolutely atrocious. Everything's far too bright and looks unnatural. So does the waterfall (?) pouring down right from the sky into the village as it keeps turning towards the camera. Speaking of the camera, it mostly works with minor clipping problems. I defeat some more bad dudes and approach two more people. I appear to be able to talk to one of them again but since the first one didn't really tell me much of interest I take my chance and slaughter them before he gets a peep out. And now I am stuck. Apparently a trigger didn't ... well, trigger due to me ignoring the dialogue, and I am lost. Until I jump-glitch over some rocks and suddenly find myself in a wide, featureless area with two guys standing around. One of them turns out to be the boss of the level and I defeat them both easily. It's even announced on-screen, but the level doesn't end. Having nowhere left to go I quit to the main menu and am greeted by the studio logo bumper again. Pressing Escape gets me to the menu but ... why? Of course none of my "progress" has been saved, not even the "souls" upgrade currency I was able to collect. Seems you have to save manually. By now I guess you get my drift. Even at the price of free this game isn't worth playing. Yes, my playing time is only seven minutes, but I'd like to keep my sanity, thank you very much.

Voidwalkers - Soul Hunters is a top down brawler with a medieval theme. Choose a character class and a few other specific customisation options, then embark on small, half finished, unpolished brawler arenas fighting NPCs. The game is badly polished and somewhat incoherent. There's no proper 4K support, with only a couple of available resolutions, so everything looks blurry and low quality. Brawling and other aspects of the gameplay are equally lacklustre. The game isn't even fully free, while it can be played, the developers have their hand out for $5 worth of DLC, despite knowing how unfinished the game comes across as. While this can be downloaded for free without buying the DLC, the quality is just too low for me to recommend.
So, to be quite honest, I don't know what I was expecting, but certainly not this. A top-down action roguelike rpg, huh? If this is any genre other than "Jank ♥♥♥♥", then Mars is a supernova. My experience with the game is as follows: I launch the game, all is fine. I go to start a game, campaign, warrior. Choose a starting gift, ring of Vigor. Don't know if it ever equipped it or not. So, I get in the game, kill the 3 first enemies, and decide to go to the right, instead of forward, since I like to see what extra content the game has. It had a pylon that was apparently a dungeon. So in I go. It's an empty map floating above the previous one. I get an objective, 2 of them infact, and within around 10 seconds, I fail the first one, and whatever I do, I can't get out anymore. So I went out and relaunched the save file. I go forward this time, talk to the person, find a new dungeon, decide that "What's the worst that could happen" and go in. Assassinate target this time, so I find enemies this time, and discover they can't even hurt me when they attack, so that's certainly interesting. I kill the boss and discover that there is an inventory too, which I couldn't get it to work, because it wouldn't lock my mouse in the inventory HUD. Then I try to grab the item that it told me to grab to leave the dungeon and I can't do that, Nothing allows me to. I didn't try anything else, but how is this game meant to be playable even?
Before I played Voidwalkers - Soul Hunters, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
I don't even know what to say................................................. it's a game......................... I guess??????????????? Made me laugh, try it for the character customizer if nothing else.
