Void's Calling ep.1 presents itself as an ambitious hybrid between a choice-driven visual novel and a light role-playing game, and from the outset it is clear that it is designed to appeal to players who enjoy narrative freedom paired with mature themes. The story follows Forlan, a mercenary drifting into an unfamiliar town where opportunities for work, danger, and personal entanglements quickly arise. Rather than pushing the player along a tightly scripted path, the game leans heavily on player choice, allowing decisions to shape relationships, unlock different events, and steer the narrative toward multiple possible outcomes. This structure gives the experience a sense of personal ownership, as progress feels less like following a predefined script and more like carving out a particular version of Forlan’s journey. The gameplay loop is built around a day-based structure that divides time into manageable segments. Each day, players choose how to spend their limited actions, whether that means taking on quests, exploring locations, fighting monsters, or interacting with characters. This system adds a light strategic layer, forcing players to consider how they prioritize money, experience, and story progression. Combat is turn-based and intentionally simple, functioning more as a resource-gathering tool than a deep tactical challenge. While the option to automate fights keeps the pace brisk, it also reinforces the sense that combat exists primarily to support the broader narrative and relationship systems rather than to stand on its own as a core mechanical pillar. Narratively, the game balances mystery, character interaction, and adult content, with a clear emphasis on the latter. Encounters with various characters often blur the line between plot advancement and personal indulgence, and the story is structured so that many quests naturally funnel into intimate scenes. For players who approach the game primarily for its mature content, this design is likely to feel rewarding, as scenes are frequent, visually polished, and animated with a level of care that exceeds many comparable titles. On the other hand, players more invested in traditional storytelling may find the pacing uneven, as dramatic or intriguing plot threads can sometimes take a back seat to erotic interludes, making the overarching narrative feel fragmented rather than tightly woven. From an audiovisual standpoint, Void’s Calling ep.1 maintains a consistent and competent presentation. Character artwork is detailed and expressive, helping convey personality despite the absence of voice acting. Backgrounds and environments do enough to establish a fantasy setting without drawing undue attention to themselves, functioning as effective backdrops rather than focal points. The soundtrack is serviceable and appropriately atmospheric, though it rarely asserts itself strongly enough to be memorable. Overall, the game’s visual identity aligns well with its goals, prioritizing character depiction and animated scenes over expansive world-building or cinematic flair. As an opening episode, the game feels deliberately incomplete, laying groundwork rather than delivering full narrative closure. This episodic nature can be both a strength and a weakness. On one hand, it successfully establishes the world, introduces recurring characters, and hints at larger mysteries yet to be explored. On the other, players looking for a fully resolved story may find the ending abrupt, more suggestive of future developments than satisfying in its own right. Ultimately, Void’s Calling ep.1 is best understood as a niche experience: a choice-driven adult visual novel with RPG elements that emphasizes freedom, replayability, and mature interactions over mechanical depth or tightly paced storytelling. For players aligned with those priorities, it offers a substantial and engaging introduction, while others may view it as an intriguing but uneven first chapter that depends heavily on personal taste.
A very nice, carefully crafted visual novel: it's not the usual title with walls of text that you progress through just by clicking. The story is really beautiful and well done, keeping you hooked from start to finish, but unfortunately it ends by making you realize that you have to buy the second chapter (which I've already purchased and am downloading now) to find out how the story ends. In addition to talking and figuring out how to progress through the main and side quests, the game also involves money management (useful for paying for your room and avoiding game over due to lack of funds) and an RPG part where you have to train in your room (strength and agility) and, occasionally, you may encounter thugs to fight or go hunting for creatures. Of course, there are also sex scenes and animations, but they are nothing extraordinary. However, considering the often discounted price and the amount of content, I would say that the game is excellent, thanks also to the interesting story. The translation is available in Italian, French, Spanish, etc. They were done using an automatic translator, so they are not always translated well. In my language (Italian), I didn't find many errors. For English, on the other hand, the title appears to be translated correctly, as it has been reviewed by a human. One small thing to mention before concluding: it's a shame that there are no achievements and no gallery with images and animated parts. I am really satisfied and highly recommend it.
