This game had a potential to attract fans of Crimsonland, or VS like lovers with its nice visuals. Sadly, when compared to Crimsonland, which can be purchased at the 70% of the price of this game, this game is lacking contents. When compared to VS likes, where most can be purchased at 25~50% of the price, the game is lacking replayability. Another issue is the visual design. Large explosions and projectiles are fancy, but they are hindrance from the gameplay perspective. Combined with rather darkish colored enemy models, over exaggerated effects provide annoyance rather than satisfaction. Other games with such effects provide user accessibility options such as outline for enemies and/or effect opacity, but they aren’t available in this game. Lastly, the game seriously lacks game options, with the sound volume being the only option that is available. That’s unacceptable for me, especially with the price tag that is rather expensive for the genre. I might pick this up again if more contents and options are added, or at a 75%~ off sale if nothing major is changed.
Way to go ruining an awesome demo with completely terrible controls. The demo was incredible. The full game controls like utter garbage, especially at $20. Refunded.
I've played over 30 bullets heavens, so I have a lot of time with this genre. Viscera at it's base is perfectly acceptable but it falls short in the aspects many gamers expect from this genre. Meta progession is only unlocking things, there is nothing to make you better between runs. No permanent progression, only one stages, one character, etcetera. This means limited replay value. The aesthetic and gameplay is perfectly fine but without a loop to encourage me to play and play again, after a few runs you'll be bored. Compared to others in this genre Viscera expects to be paid 4 times as much while offering half as much as it's peers. For a similar aesthetic with more content (and a cheaper price by half) I'd suggest playing Greedland. Holocure also has tons more content with a massive character roster and will continue to reward your gameplay for hundreds of hours, and it's free. With the sheer amount of bullet heavens on the market now you have to do something really impressive to stand out. Right now, there's no reason to play this over one of the hundreds (seriously, there are that many) of other bullet heaven games on steam.
Unfortunately, as much as I would like to, I can’t really recommend Viscera in its current state. It has the fundamentals of a potentially good shooter, but it could be so, so much better. Occasionally, it manages to let the genie out of the metaphorical bottle to unleash some genuinely fun carnage (especially once you get some upgrades and powerups going), but most of the time, you’re struggling to have fun because you’re hindered by a bland art style, enemies that are difficult to make out on the map, repetitive levels, and a lackluster repertoire of weapons with too many guns that feel unsatisfying and unrewarding to wield. With some patches and updates, this could be a worthwhile game, but for now, I’m not sure I can recommend it. Can be fun in short bursts but also very repetitive, no idea or explained on how to achieve each medal so I only played the first level downtown. Serious performance issue when apocalypse bomb used, game slowed down to a crawl. Very average graphics and OK sound. Very pricey for what it is in my opinion. Its all just a bit much, no idea what any of those powerups do, too many at one time, gives me a headache, and just not enough GAME here, feels like a demo or a concept for a game, not something anyone would pay $ for... let alone 25$ !!! not even close to worth that.
Rigoberto Patapocha se parte la pierna y se le quea toa pocha, no recomienda este juego
This game is absolutely terrible. Looks like pre alpha. This price tag is ridiculous.
