👑 Powered by HoI 4 Deu Curators group in German / English 👑⠀⠀⠀

 Follow Main group
 Follow Second group
English: -----------------------------------------------> Virtual Becomes Reality: A Stanford VR Experience from the in-house Virtual Human Interaction Lab is a small experience of how VR could or already does enrich our daily lives. In the short 15 minute interactive demonstration, we learn a few things and perspectives about the combination of VR and the real world and the interactions between the two worlds. These can then even have an impact on the consumer's behaviors, something in the social realm. But even simple things like sports training and the like can be supported by VR. In addition to a brief "historical" look at two HMD prototypes, we experience a few more things, such as dancing with Grover from Sesame Street! Some of the experiences presented are simple 360° shots, but mostly you are in graphically just sufficient environments or else in the lab room. To understand the background of Virtual Becomes Reality, the interaction between the worlds by the user and vice versa, a hammer graphic is not necessary either. People who have been familiar with VR for a long time won't be knocked off their socks by the program's operation either. We mainly stand on one point, or move a bit roomscale on our playing area. There is no teleportation, only the superhero experience offers free movement, and that immediately in three dimensions. There is also unfortunately no finger tracking support for the index controllers, I think that would have added even more depth to some experiences. I think Virtual Becomes Reality is worthwhile because we are encouraged to look at VR and the real world from a different perspective. Plus, it's free and definitely fun too. 👀Three-armed dances with Grobi on my curator page! 👑 Powered by HoI 4 Deu Curators group in German / English 👑⠀⠀⠀

 Follow Main group
 Follow Second group
You get to dance with Grover. Rate 10/10. VRGOTY 2021.
It's a short yet affective experience that points a finger towards the possibilities that VR can offer to everyone in the world. It talks about some interesting psychological experiments which peaked my interest to research more articles relating to what was shows in this experience. I recommend it to everyone who has a VR, it's simply 15~ minutes long and you get to learn some interesting thoughts! I thank to everyone who put their time and effort into this project. I too hope that in the future, we'll be able to have portable VR technology in our daily lives that are used not only for entertainment but also used for enchanting human interactions and focusing on education aswell. Who knows? Maybe the time where we'll have Augmented Reality (AR) and/or VR contact lenses is closer than we imagine.
As someone who works in VR this is a refreshing reminder about the immense potential for humanity this technology can provide. Thanks to all the researchers around the world who made this technology possible.
Worth a run since its free, but mostly, a pop eco/social responsibility lecture.

Virtual Becomes Reality: A Stanford VR Experience is a free VR experience. It worked on my system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Learn about the research being done on the use of Virtual Reality. It is a short 15 minute long experience. Has some VR interaction. Has some fear of falling inducing parts. Has some wokeness inside. Try this, if you are new to VR.
Feels like one of those awkward educational films from the 70s they force you to sit through in school. Who is this even for? Anyone who already uses VR and owns the required hardware knows pretty much everything said and shown here. And I don't believe for a second that some blurry, low-quality footage of tourists around a coral reef helped make the decision to take better care of the reef.
Visually outdated experience that showcases few of the Stanford's VR "experiments'. Half of them are very preachy social studies with paper thin science behind them.
It's free, so not much to lose (except maybe 15 minutes of your life). This would have been very interesting in 2015-2017, but now, in 2021/22, it's simply outdated I'm afraid.
