Idle & Incremental Lovers doesn't recommend Vibe Idler : All-in on the minimalist and terminal-based interface and the environmental storytelling. A creative take, but the gameplay is lacking. No way to know about how the stuff you buy makes you progress. + As a curator playing a lot of idle and incremental games, I'm always curious about new ways to implement and play these genres. Props to the dev for having a creative idea and going all-in on it. + You can catch fragments of story through file names, project names, LLM names, tech tree... I actually enjoyed this obscure way to tell a story. +/- The UI goes only through keyboard. It get it fits the terminal-based interface theme, but from a player perspective it's really not enjoyable. - Sound features (office soundscape and premium streaming sub aka music) are perks you can buy. They're great, but it's a bit annoying to experience the first part of the game without sound (and even after each prestige). - What's really the dealbreaker is that you have absolutely no idea how the things you buy are working. Buy more computers, yeah but for what? Buy a shiny new LLM, yeah but for what? No explanations, no way to know how this makes "numbers go up", so you end up clicking randomly on upgrades once in a while. - Same thing for the "Pivot" (aka prestige) mechanic. When you're about to click on a button to start from scratch with some "reputation" points, but you can't spend these points and you have no idea how they make you progress faster, you're pretty mad about the game's lack of explanations. *Scientists predict human-level AI by 2030. Maybe sooner if the bar keeps dropping.* Found this review helpful? Not much here for its price tag. You purchase the next available upgrades, pivot (prestige) a couple of times and then wait. There's no real strategy or sense of choice. The final achievement requires leaving the game running for a long time after you've completed it. Looks cool on second monitor though.
