I played VGA Planets from the start in 1992-1994 (I still should have the original 3.5 floppy disc sent by Tim himself somewhere). I did some games again in 2012-2014 but I was surprised to see VGA Planets on Steam and I started playing again :-) Seeing our original accounts still existing, including the games we played brought back some good memories. We are bringing "the gang" back together! The game still feels familiar and kept me playing for more than two hours straight and I hope to be playing a lot more. Update June 23: Our little "test game" is still running and I have over 70 hours spent on managing my Robot empire... Still love it!
This game has got a very steep learning curve, but it's the only game I've been playing for over 30 years, usually daily. It's a strategy game with open logistics, diplomacy, and tactics. In a grand enough scale. Logistics are simple and exact: a few different minerals, money and supplies, but everything in exact numbers - logistics are easy to manage with pure maths. It's a joy to plan and execute. Diplomacy is truly open - you can communicate and agree with other players freely and however you want. Also tactics - there is some "terrain" with planet distances and some special things on map, but mostly it's free to move and align everything however you see fit. Each race with different abilities and ships provide a truly unique game experience every time. So - enough simplicity, enough freedom, and enough grand scale so it's big and long gameplay for months without becoming too burdensome - I simply love it. Looking forward for next 30 years!

I used to play this on floppy discs and we were giving the turns out by snailmail or by hand or even via a bbs. And this game was so much fun the gameplay is still fun and valid in 2024.
old skool... great fun with friends... automatic turn based so play when you want... turns can be done in steam, steamdeck, internet browser or mobile phone... you do not have to finish your turn in one go... multiple races... when everyone is done the results will run... steep learning curve... tutorials present
Best turn-based strategy game i know - highly addictive and steep learning curve.... You will enjoy every minute of it...
I'm playing the game for 10 years now and I'm still addicted to it. Beside the single player game which was added a few years ago, the main goal in this game is to play turn-based multiplayer. You and 10 other players do your turn 2 to 3 times a week, then the host runs and the result of all turns combined are presented to you. This game is ideal for players with limited time if they dare to dive into the game. The game itself is a complex wargame, logistics, diplomacy and strategy are the keys of the game, luck is only a minor factor. There are several matches for the inexperienced, to learn the game. The game is free but there are limitations for those who play it for free. Mostly, I play it on my mobile at planets.nu but it is also playable via steam. If yu need help, you can contact me via the UI, using the magnifier icon and then find a player: Jollyroger
As mentioned, this a great game that started out way back in the BBS days. It's been around a long time and now it's on Steam. Check it out and tell 'em Bats sent you! :)
its not bad... 30 years ago it was cool... now keep in mind i played ultima online for 14 years... but this is too old for even me
Galaktik imparatorluklar arasındaki uzaydaki savaşı simüle eden, grafiksel, çok oyunculu, sırayla oynanan bir savaş oyunu.
