Verde is probably one of the most relaxing games ive played this year! ♡ This is a super cute and really really chill little city-builder with an absolutely lovely art style! Everything feels soft, cozy and peaceful, and it is one of those games where you can sit down to play for “just a little bit” and suddenly you completed the game in one go. I finished my first playthrough in around 4 hours... and immediately started another one. So I think that says enough. 😭 You get three different modes: Story, Sandbox and Creative, as well as three regions to unlock in your game. Each region has its own items, shops and decorations to unlock, so there is actually a nice little amount of stuff to discover while you play. One thing worth mentioning is that Verde is not a fully customizable city-builder. You do get a fair amount of colors and options to choose from and in my opinion there is still enough freedom to make your little city feel like yours. What I love the most is how little pressure there is. There is no constant stressing over efficiency, perfect stats or some crazy-brain strategy. I am not even sure if you can properly fail?? XD You just build your cute little city, unlock things, decorate and have a good time. It is simple, adorable, and just relaxing. Sometimes I just want to place a cute little shop and be happy. 🌿😂 And Verde??? Verde lets me do exactly that. ♡

I fell in love. I have been looking for the next relaxing and chill game and happened across this one in the Steam feed. I had seen the name before but did not go further past what I saw previously. Today... Today the universe told me to take a closer look. A demo! The demo sucked me in and as soon as the game went live, I purchased it. It is super darling and very enjoyable. It is not taxing on my PC, doesn't heat up my office like some other games I play. It scratches that itch. It is just enough. It is not highly customizable, mind you, but I think it is enough to feed the decorative little beasty I have inside me. There are other games that can give me more but this one is a nice break from the multitude of choices I am normally faced with. The music is the same but also relaxing. I have not gone too terribly deep in the game - I still have stuff to unlock. I highly recommend this game.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢀⡴⠳⢤⡀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⣀⣠⣤⡀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⣰⠛⠀⠀⠀⢛⣦⣤⣤⣤⣄⣠⡤⠒⠋⠉⡡⠀⢹⡀ ⠀⠀⠀⣰⠃⠀⠀⠀⣰⡿⠉⣰⡾⠋⠁⠁⠀⠀⢀⠌⠀⠀⢸⡇ ⠀⠀⢸⡭⠂⢀⡀⠀⠉⠀⠀⠉⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠉⠀⠜⠀⢸⡇ ⠀⢀⡾⠀⣰⣿⡷⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⣼⣿⣿⡄⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢸⡇ ⠀⡼⠁⠀⠙⠛⠁⡀⠔⢄⢀⡀⠀⢻⣿⡿⠇⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢾⠁ ⢾⡀⠀⠀⢀⡠⢊⡠⠊⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠘⣇ ⢰⠇⠀⠀⢸⠁⢸⣀⣤⠤⢤⣀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⡤⠟ ⠘⢦⡖⠂⠉⠈⠀⠀⠀⠀⣀⣀⡉⢱⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⣸⠀ ⠀⡠⠇⢀⠂⠀⠀⢄⠀⣏⠀⠀⠉⠙⠦⡀⠀⠀⠢⣤⠦⣤⠇⠀ ⢸⠣⠀⡙⠀⠀⠃⠈⠀⢧⡀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠈⠢⠀⠀⢹⡄⠀⠀⠀ ⠸⡆⠀⠁⠄⠀⠀⠀⠀⢸⠱⢦⡀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢻⠀
Verde
relaxing city building game? exactly what i need after all that stressfull cities skyline session
Gifted key but all thoughts and opinions are my own. Verdé is a cute city management game that takes away the stress of city building! It caught my eye with it's beautiful art and cute style, though I'm not normally good at city builder like games, this one allows for a relaxing and enjoying experience with none of the pressure of regular city builders! I really adore the cute art style and being able to customize apperances of the buildings. The tasks didn't feel daunting and there's a creative mode and sandbox mode for those who just want to creative little cities with even less pressure. I've not fully finished the game yet but I do look forward to completing it and then playing around in one of the other two modes, I think it'd be one of those games that's just a nice one to go back too when you need to destress!
Really enjoyed the demo so I had to jump on the full release. This is an absolutely charming little game, indeed for players who are more into the decorating / idle / chill aspect of city building games than the min-maxing. I find the art absolutely lovely. Pleasantly surprised that I could jump back into my demo save as well to continue on. Some of my achievements even retroactively unlocked, but not all of them. This is very much a keyboard and mouse game that launches on my Steam Deck but isn't really playable with a controller, FYI!
Very, very pleasant game! 🌿💚 VERDE is incredibly cozy, relaxing, and just lovely to play. The art style is beautiful, the atmosphere is wonderful, and the music is absolutely fantastic! I could happily listen to it for hours. 🎶🌸 Unfortunately, I did experience a few crashes during my playthrough. Sadly, towards the end, my save file became corrupted and I couldn’t continue playing. 😭 That was definitely disappointing because I was really enjoying the game, but I’ll absolutely come back to it! It has so much potential and is exactly the kind of cozy game I love. Just… please give us a patch! 🥹❤️ I want to keep building my little world! 🌱✨
Verde takes the familiar foundations of city building and reshapes them into a gentle, creativity-driven experience where enjoying the growth of a community matters more than mastering complicated systems. Developed by Antimeta Studio and published by Assemble Entertainment, the game invites players into Dewdrop Valley, a colorful setting inhabited by unusual creatures called seedlets. Rather than treating citizens as anonymous numbers within a spreadsheet, Verde gives its population an endearing identity and makes providing a comfortable home for these creatures one of the central motivations behind expansion. The basic gameplay revolves around establishing settlements, constructing homes, and meeting the needs of the seedlets. Providing suitable living conditions encourages more of them to arrive, gradually turning a small collection of buildings into a thriving community. This creates an accessible progression loop in which expansion feels closely connected to the inhabitants themselves. There is always a reason to add another structure or improve an area, but Verde avoids making every decision feel like an optimization problem. Players are encouraged to develop their towns according to personal preference instead of constantly chasing the most efficient possible arrangement. Decoration plays an especially significant role in that philosophy. Different decorative options allow settlements to develop their own character, making visual design an important part of the experience rather than an optional activity added after the management work is finished. Players can spend time arranging their surroundings and creating spaces they simply find attractive. This freedom gives Verde considerable appeal as a relaxing sandbox because experimentation does not have to be justified by productivity. Sometimes placing something because it completes the appearance of a neighborhood is reason enough. The visual presentation supports this approach effectively. Verde uses an isometric perspective combined with colorful, hand-drawn 2D artwork, producing an inviting miniature-world quality. Its emphasis on vegetation and natural surroundings distinguishes it from city builders centered on concrete, industrial production, highways, and dense metropolitan expansion. The seedlets fit naturally into this aesthetic, strengthening the connection between population growth and the game's broader environmental personality. Buildings and inhabitants consequently feel like parts of the same cohesive world rather than unrelated systems placed on top of one another. Dewdrop Valley also prevents the concept from being restricted to one endlessly expanding town. Players can discover different regions, each possessing its own visual identity and challenges. Exploring these locations gives progression a broader purpose while creating opportunities to construct settlements in changing environments. This regional structure is particularly valuable for a game built around creativity because new surroundings can inspire different layouts and decorative approaches. Challenges provide some direction without fundamentally transforming Verde into a stressful management simulation. One of Verde's most defining qualities is its rejection of excessive statistical pressure. Many city builders reward players for studying production ratios, maximizing income, optimizing traffic, and squeezing greater efficiency from every available space. Verde deliberately favors players who would rather concentrate on creating an appealing town. There are still needs to satisfy and decisions to make, but they exist to give the creative process structure instead of dominating it. This makes the game approachable for newcomers while also providing an alternative for experienced city-building fans who occasionally want something less demanding. That accessibility is simultaneously where Verde may prove less satisfying for certain players. Anyone seeking an intricate economic model, elaborate industrial chains, severe resource shortages, or difficult strategic consequences may consider the systems relatively lightweight. The game depends heavily on whether the player enjoys decoration, settlement expansion, exploration, and observing the seedlets populate their creation. Without an interest in those activities, the reduced emphasis on optimization could make progression feel less substantial over extended sessions. For its intended audience, however, that simplicity becomes a major advantage. Verde understands that city-building games do not necessarily need to create constant pressure. There is satisfaction in gradually transforming an undeveloped area into a pleasant settlement and watching inhabitants make use of the spaces that have been created for them. The ability to approach construction at a comfortable pace makes it suitable for shorter sessions as well as longer periods spent refining the appearance of a favorite town. The game also provides useful supporting features without distracting from its straightforward concept. It is designed as a single-player experience and includes Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud functionality. Its relatively modest technical demands complement the accessible design, placing greater emphasis on the illustrated presentation and management experience than on hardware-intensive graphical effects. These practical qualities make Verde feel consistent in its goal of being an easy game to enter and enjoy. Ultimately, Verde succeeds most strongly when viewed as a cozy creative builder rather than a hardcore urban simulation. Antimeta Studio has constructed the experience around seedlets, decorative freedom, natural scenery, regional exploration, and low-pressure settlement development, while Assemble Entertainment serves as its publisher. The game sacrifices some strategic complexity in exchange for accessibility and creative freedom, a tradeoff that will strongly favor players who enjoy building attractive communities without obsessing over perfect efficiency. Its charming inhabitants and nature-focused identity give it enough personality to stand apart, while the relaxed management systems make it particularly welcoming for anyone seeking a peaceful city-building experience.
